You'd be surprised what Unilever (UN) has their hands in. However, some of their products they don't own out right, but either have the contract to produce or the rights to the name to produce. Some, not all of their products are, but may be of interest to this forum; Dollar Shave Club is owned by UN, but it's hardware is made by Dorco Brut Rexona Lux Dove Axe Alberto-Culver line Brylcream Master (Philippine Men's Care Line) Pears and many many others. If you ever want to go down the rabbit hole, try to figure out all the Nestle, P&G, and Combe products out there. There is a very incestuous relationship between a lot of companies once you leave US borders. If you ever want to get your mind blown, try to figure out who owns Dunlop. If you want to get your mind snapped, figure out the industrial relationship between Turkey and Germany. Check your Derby and Arko products. GMBH is written all over them. Things get weird when you try to figure out corporate structure for a lot of Global countries. It's pretty genius to be honest. Each company being able to point somewhere else for its headquarters in order to avoid taxation and get around import restrictions. I don't blame any one of these companies.
Never. They would crumble. However,(and I am fairly certain, you wouldn't ever want to do this), what I normally do is grate the entire puck; mix it with equal parts boiling water; put the mixture into a container and let it dry out for about 2 weeks(open to the air), maybe longer. It is then just a hard as a new puck, but just not all "dehydrated" and powdery.
I thought about that. I did not use boiling water but I did grate a cake of modern and then pack it into a container with some water to make a shave stick. Great ideal I could get 3 or 4 good size samples out of a cake I bet. Thanks my Friend!
You're welcome. Check this out: https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/the-vintage-williams-project.45842/
As an American Citizen no matter where you go you're screwed on taxes as long as you have normal income. There's legal ways of reducing your taxes, but essentially you will not own your property any more, your property will own you and what ever other entity/ person that is designated. It can get very complicated, but if set it up right and your heirs aren't stupid you can build generational wealth.
i like the modern, used it straight for 10 years before i found all this artisan stuff .never got a bad shave from it , unfortunately i was using carts.,but the williams lives on here and the carts went...last time i looked for vintage williams it was 30-40 a puck on the bay.plus exchange rate and high shipping... but i wouldn't know which is the best formulation.. more research ..why is it better to agree sir?, i figured you to be the full on vintage williams guy...
Here's a good question; Seems UN owns Williams, maybe in Europe, but do they own the South African Williams? What about Brazil? Just weird. Extremely weird. I do know the European version of Aqua Velva is closer to the WWI version of Aqua Velva produced in the US.
B Best formulation is the first: Tallow (first ingredient) When you look at the box, if there is no ingredient list, or there is and the first is Tallow, that's the one.
I've bought samples of triple milled soaps from shavedash.com. They come as a small ziplock bag with shavings, like he whittled them from the puck. It's pretty easy to press the shavings into the bottom of a container.
I have always used williams, 6 months or so ago i picked up a few artisans to try out, they are fine but most of the time i usually just reach for williams, vdh, or tabac. I figure i will skip all of the fancy soaps and spend that money on aftershaves. I have never had an issue with williams that others have. I have been trying to dial in my injector razor, i think something off on it, but whenever i try a new razor ill use the same soap to keep things consistant, so the past 2 weeks have been nothing but williams, followed with AV.
Im not sure how to tell what one, i want to say i was told it was a G. I have been busy at work, finally have enough free time to surf the shave den, i didnt realize its been so long. I catch most of your videos on youtube.
For sure, i will always be around, i just get busy. Christmas is always a busy time, then steelhead season opens so my focus goes elsewere for a few months. I ordered up some personna injector blades to see if that helps, i have the chinese schick blades and they may just not work. I always make a point to watch your videos, one of the few sane shave videos. Some of those other guys spend 15 minutes blooming and then another 15 minutes lathering, it drives me nuts lol, but to each their own i guess. Its why all of the new people think it takes 45 minutes to shave, it really doesnt take me much longer then if I shaved with one of the cartridge.
