It was great. I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with you guys lately. With all this CV19 hoopla I've been busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.

Except for a few of the smallest artisans making soap in their own kitchens Williams may once again be the only shaving soap available to most guys in North America this time next year.

I had one shave with the soap. The lather was ok, not thick, rich creamy or dense but it had a nice glide. The scent was almost none.

Cushion is not a word, the Williams is known for, but maybe i did something "wrong" lathering it. I started fairly dry and added drops of water.

Nevertheless i like it and if i have the chance to get another one, i would buy it.

The Quick and dirty on how to lather Modern Williams For a great shave.
    1. Soak the puck if you haven't used it in awhile over night with clean drinking quality water.

    2. Dump the water and refill with fresh water while showering. Don't soak your brush in the same container.

    3. Dump water in another container for lather building/save water/pre-shave. Rub saturated puck on the bottom of the bowl.

    4. Use damp brush to start building the lather dipping the tips into the saved bloom water to slowly add water.

    6. Enjoy the most wonderful shave.

    WHAT?! Really?! WOW!!!

That is an impressing lather...absolutely stunning. I think the next time i shave with the Williams i try your method and keep you updated.

But i really need to soak the soap OVER NIGHT?

Thank you very much for the instruction. It is very helpful.

Just to get it started. Have to remember, this soap is formulated to be used everyday. Once it absorbs the water and swells up you know it's good to go. Some people use the same technique for the Woolfat just to get it started as well.

Once I get a puck going and I am using it everyday I just put a new puck underneath the old one so when the older puck gets used up the new puck is already seasoned.

Overnight if you're a morning shaver. The initial soak needs to be a few hours. Unless you want to get up hours before it's time to go to work, overnight is simplest. As long as you don't let it dry out again, after that first soak, you just need to bloom the puck while you shower.

Personally, I use any soap for 1-2 weeks at a time and tend to 3017 Williams pucks. After that initial soak I just leave it in the bottom of my mug, add water while I shower, and soak the brush (usually boar) in the same mug, along with the WMS. There are a lot of ways to get good lather from WMS.

Just remember a couple of things:
    1. Keep the puck well hydrated.
    2. Load heavy with a damp brush.
    3. Rapidly whipping the lather tends to form larger bubbles. Slow it down a bit, and you won't get the froth.

None of this contradicts anything @BigD said.
