I didn't like the Dovo blade mounts, functional but never felt as good as the other DE based shavettes.
That looks very nice. I admit I haven't kept current on the shavette options. Good luck & enjoy the journey. And be safe out there.
I would unless you are curious. I found the Dovo to be very light and light razors give me allot of trouble. Also it feels odd with a DE blade since it takes up just have of the blade area. The holding mechanism worked fine.
+1. That taking up space in an empty holder irritates me. It defeats the purpose of using the DE blade. I know when I started using the Irving Barber, it didn't take more than a couple of shaves with a DE or an injector for me to become irritated with the empty space, and decide it was a waste. If you are going to use a razor capable of holding an AC blade, why wouldn't you? I think the Parker sized/shape/style shavettes that @Bama Samurai is using have a definite advantage in their nimbleness.
I appreciate the reviews of all these different tools! I've found that items that do many things rarely do any of them well. That Irving looks nice, but it's too Swiss Army for my tastes. The Parker seems propose built for it's one task. Not in a hurry to purchase, but my next shavette will be a DE blade holder. The opposite end of the spectrum from the Weck type that uses the longest replaceable blades.
WARNING WARNING!!! - The CJB shavettes come shipped from eBay with a BLADE installed. I just learned this at the expense of badly cutting two fingers when I tried to pull it from the packing.....
