Scuttles can be awesome, especially when its cold outside! I face lather almost exclusively, but like to pull the scuttle out every now and again. I say go for it, variety is great when it comes to shaving implements! Here are some various stages of my journeys in scuttletown.

I am rather pleased with my scuttle from Mr. Robert Becker. I still need to dial in the proper usage, but that is part of the fun :)

Wow the little crock pot idea is awsome :happy088:

Glad to know I'm not the only one that almost always ends up with too much lather. I find it is much easier to build a nice lather also.

I have a Becker and enjoy warm lather. Of course, when I face lather (e.g., MWF or a stick when I travel) it doesn't get used. Also, some say there are soaps which don't do well with heat, which is why I face lather MWF but I haven't had any problems and will probably try bowl lathering the fat when I have time to experiment.

I have an Michal Yoresh scuttle with double walls to keep the lather warm and I simply love it. Look for these scuttles on Etsy

I ordered a scuttle for myself simply because it is so awkward to keep a mug in a sink full of hot water. I want to enjoy the shave, not fumble around with a mug in the sink that could tip over and fill with water. I don't know, I guess it depends on your sink, but my mug doesn't sit in there very well.
