I must admit. The only reason why I wanted one is because it's called the "duke" although it is not related to john wayne I like it because of the name. This purchase was based on feedback from users (30%) price (2%) name (40%) branding (8%) and finally - nothing logically saine (20%)
Exactly. I bought a Colonel x2. I wanted one because I wanted a brush that was new, looked old, and was from a venerable maker. Check, check, check. And I am not saying it's bad. Quite the opposite. But it didn't blow me away. Whereas my New Forest brush did. For is price point, my new SOC boar blew me away. And while the physical feel of the SOC and New Forest is pleasing and substantial, my Simpson feels small. I wish I would have gotten a chunkier handle, like a Duke. But again, I haven't used it much. Maybe it will be a grower. I have a couple other brushes I wasn't wild about at first, but became favorites after a few uses.
