I shave with mine this morning. When are you going to try yours out?

I'm still debating how to clean it...I don't want to do too much to it...

easiest way would be a soft tooth brush and baking soda. should get it shiny enough to feel good about using it and showing it off.

very nice find. I believe the 'plug' at the base of the handle is not original. It´s without function.

That piece stuck into the end of your double ring reminds me of a "snap cap" for a gun. The plastic "Bullet Tip" Clog Pruf is neat and kind of rare. I was never able to get one with the plastic knob when I was looking for them. Great score.:happy088:

Thanks Achim and happy to see you here btw :)
I'm gonna try to push the plug out, gently, from the other side...

That's an interesting double you have there.
I think that plug on the bottom is 'aftermarket' because it appears to be a dissimilar metal/plating/patina with the rest of the razor. It could be half of a button for a snap link cufflink. The other half would have a pin that snaps in there and a release button on the other side. Snap links were popular in the 20's & 30's but they were far more fragile than fixed & toggle-ends. Maybe at some point a man with a broken cufflink and a razor sat idle and wondered to himself if this fits in here.... “well look at that, it does!”
The knurling looks similar just one is sharper than the other. Knurling is pressed in with a rotary mold on a lathe. As you can imagine the mold wears out after so many uses and needs to be replaced. I suspect that one razor was turned on fresh mold and the other on a well worn one.

    Thanks.
Your observation and thoughts on the molding is interesting.
I spent a lot of some time looking at other DRs and it appears to be very common that the pattern on the handle itself is never a perfect match to the pattern on the end of it (the part of the handle knurling that is attached to the internal tube.

Did you try to push the button out yet?

Not yet, thought id leave it in there until I decide on how to clean the thing. I'm torn between 'get it as shiny as I can' and 'just make it safe to use and leave as much patina as I can'

Take the button out and clean the spare handle so you can compare.
