    Needed more real estate....:p

Just kidding, I put AS on my arms too. Keeps me happy through the day catching a faint sniff of old timey AS. Depending on the staying power of the particular AS, I go easier than others. Gotta be courteous of my cubemates!

I use aftershave, what I call real aftershave, not the stuff that's a diluted cologne, heavy with alcohol. I dislike heavy lingering scents. I can make them, but I don't.

I make my own to my specs. . All are extremely moisturizing (lasts the whole day, easily). The Bay Rum has a really nice scent that lasts a few hours and folks who I allow to get close can detect, like my wife. The Menthol AS uses the same moisturizer package and the scent from it dissappates more rapidly. If\ I wish to follow with a cologne I can and the scent of the AS doesn't get in the way.

I have a cabinet full and have more likes than hates. If I want to describe hates they would be all Trumpers except Spanish Leather; all Truefit and Hill except Trafalgar; Musgo Real; Pinaud Clubman; Brut and anything that smells like it. I like most common brands of aftershave, and also a lot of edts and colognes. Today I am wearing New York. Also like Gevinchi Insense and Carons Le 3rd Homme among others.

I shave at night and use aftershave at the time. Depending on what I'm doing for the day, I'll either apply cologne or nothing in the morning.

    Favorite colognes:
    Taylor's Eton College
    Givenchy Pi
    Halston Z-14
    Calvin Klein Obsession
Royall Musk (but it doesn't last long)
    Royall Lyme (same as above)

    Favorite aftershaves
    Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel
    Speick splash
Malizia Uomo Vetyver (really nice, quite soothing, wonderful scent and cheap!)
    Gillette Cool Wave
Yardley Gold Ice (thought I can't find it anymore, may be OOP)
and I'm enjoying this sample I got of Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood too.

Oh, in answering the original question, always an aftershave and sometimes a cologne that layers well with the aftershave used. I will often plan to use a specific cologne and choose my aftershave accordingly in this regard. Speick, for instance, layers very nicely with Eton college over top of it.

CH, Wow what an investment. A few years ago a member of SMF showed his well stocked cabinet and discribed when he used each. Later a lot of them wound up in the For Sale forum and I bought all his culls for $168. Included a lot of the British scents and Knize 10, Musgo Real and I got to try them. Gave a few to my grandkids. Have you read Lucca Turin's: Perfumes, The Guide? I tried some of the 5 star stuff and liked New York and Caron's Le 3rd Homme.

    No havent read that guide.
I'm certain you won't see my EDT's end up being sold. I know all the scents and how they react and smell on my skin very well :)

Garon makes awesome classic scents for rather cheap. Rumours say Luis Vuitton group purchased them, so prices might soon start to go up into Chanel levels !

Same goes for me, Mechguy...Keep it simple, nothing fancy. I prefer aftershaves. To quote Jack Palance.."I don't need some fancy perfume to tell me I'm a man".

You had Truefitt&Hill in your "hate" list. Winston Churchill will get you for that!! :)

Both, depends upon the day as to which one I use on weekends Aftershaves, on weekdays Cologne.

I prefer my own natural musk -- a heady, complex blend of clean sweat, concern, ennui, bafflement, indignation, resignation, intermittent melancholy, artificial sweetener, coffee and glove leather. That, and Brut.

I'm not much for cologne-although having said that, I would be wearing "half cologne" if I tried Aqua Velva Musk or Clubman Special Reserve"(both of which do appeal to me).

I use aftershaves for their healing effect not for scent.

To smell good I have about 70 bottles of perfume, EDT, EDP, extrait etc.. Favorite? I love all my babies how could I favor one?
