Yeah, I'm about three months away from that minimum myself LOL I too participated in a pass around with about 3 or 4 hundred soaps. That is why I purchased all the Soaps that I did, These Pass arounds must be the best advertising in the world for soap companies/ brush makers/ razor companies/ shaving forums etc. A year ago I was happy with canned goo and now I've got 20 pounds of soap and a bunch of razors. Lol Spot on review of Mitchell's wool fat. I gave it a slickness of only 8/10 But moisturizing is a 9+ I rarely use it but have a feeling it will come out a little more this winter.
Let me read the rules here first before posting anything. I'll have access to a PC tomorrow at work where I can read through all the details. I got in trouble on the other site for giving away too much soap in a thread and openly sharing samples. I guess they had a problem with other people before over the years giving away soap and reviewing non vendor soap as a form of self-promotion which is highly forbidden. I assume it is forbidden from here as well. I understand their point. Really good reviews, I finally finished reading this thread. The Mickey Lee soap is interesting because of the kokum butter and Shea Butter. They complement the Tallow very nicely and the drunken goat has one of the best smells in their lineup. The Kraken is also very nice barber shop. Barrister&Mann is in my top 5 at least for the white label. The latha line I find to be unnecessary as it's not that much cheaper and its performance is a good one or two points below white label. The scents are still amazing though so I enjoy trying them from time to time. Col Conk To me is rubbish. I rate it in the 5/10 range but I have heard it needs to be melted into a water container for ease of lather so I will get around to trying that in the next few months.
Just the new soaps the only soap I have at this time is my everyday soap Ogallala Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorn and Sterling Glacial Wintergreen soap. Than @david of central florida sent me a sample of Route 66 Twisted Tweed and a sample of Soap Commander Purpose soap and aftershave balm when he sent me the H injector. I got to use the Twisted Tweed and I liked it very much and the Soap Commander is on deck so we'll see what's in the box to try. Kinda excited to try the Mitchell Wool Fat for sure. Ken P.
MWF is a top performer, no doubt. I think I will be stocking it in my den. I wish they had multiple scents, though. I love variety.
yes...windsor is my fav....which I will probably be keeping, MWF doesnt do it for me which kind off sucks...I dont care how great a soap is, if I dont LOVE the scent then I wont use it.
I completely understand. There are too many great soaps to waste time on ones that smell strange. I typically give it a 2nd and even 3rd smell just to make sure my mood or attitude doesn't change toward the scent. Dr. Harris was fantastic, very complex and classy, and a great performer. I didn't keep it because I already own it in the hard shave soap.
agree...scent is so high on my list of importance in a soap, but to each there own...I get kind of a "powdery" vibe with it, did you?
So before I forget, I will make this a quick stop and probably be sending it back out on mon/tues....will be adding: AOS unscented sample Stirling Vanilla Sandalwood TOBS Eton College 5 Astra SP's
@old-school shaver you are next in line for the Soap Pass! Looks like @IDuck will get it on the way to you early in the week.
