@Hank Have you sent the box on to @Straight razor dandy yet? It's fine if not, just haven't heard an update for a little while.
Ok gentlemen. I received the soap box today and here are the contents. Barrister and Mann's bay rum Colonel Ichabod Conk's southwestern sun Derby Lemon shave cream Mitchell's wool fat D.R. Harris arlington shave cream Maggard razor's northern moss Tennessee Whisker's cedarwood Mickey lee soapworks ruby's green and la belle du sud An unknown, unboxed soap. I will put it in a plastic bag and try to identify it. I will post a pic as well for identification purposes I am familiar with some, have tried some others, and some I have no clue of. After a quick sniff test, I can tell there will be a couple I might trade out for, but we will see.
SOTD: Barrister & Mann bay rum Edwin Jagger 3d laser cut DE razor Feather platinum blade Wolf whiskers custom synthetic brush Lucky tiger aftershave Japanese flower patterned bowl Sampling spoon. Please, everyone use a sampling spoon or implementation of some sort to get the soap out. It is the clean and proper thing to do. I have heard great things about B&M and it didn't disappoint. The smell is a well-rounded bay rum. Complex with spice and sweet notes. Strong scent, but not overpowering. If I didn't have several bay rum scents already, I would keep it. Easily to lather, great cushion, and a very slick feel.
Here are my initial scent impressions: Barrister and Mann bay rum- see above post Colonel Ichabod conk's southwestern sun- super limey smell. I couldn't detect much else really. Derby Lemon shave cream - light lemon scent. Clean. Mitchell's wool fat- lanolin. Almost like clean laundry. Very light and clean scent. D.R. Harris arlington shave cream- I have this in the soap. I like this cream better. It smells like citrus and fougere. Maggard razor's northern moss- light fall tree moss scent. Similar to mama bear's northwoods. Tennessee Whisker's cedarwood - light cedarwood and oak. Similar to TOBS, but not as strong. Mickey lee soapworks ruby's green- smells like a green tomato patch and dirt. Very strange, but appealing. This is in danger of staying in my den. Mickey lee's soapworks la belle du sud - also in danger of staying in the den. It is quite sweet...more so than what most would like. Unisex scent. Smells like peaches, lavender, and nutty (they say it is pistachio on their website) An unknown, unboxed soap- it has a face in it. I originally thought it was arko, but I just don't know. It has a light clean, citrusy smell with very light woody notes.
Thanks for posting! Enjoy your time with the box. For anyone who may want to keep the Col. Conk Southwestern Sun or the Tennessee Whisker Cedarwood - I have matching after shaves for those scents. The Col. Conk is an after shave lotion in a small pump bottle and the Tennessee Whisker is a splash. I'll be glad to send those to you if you end up wanting them.
Ok, provence sante shaving soap is the one I was unsure of. It is a triple milled, vegetable based soap from france. I will check it out later in the week.
SOTD: Soap: Tennessee whiskers cedarwood Not as cushioning or slick as I would like. The scent was faint. I really prefer room-filling scents. It lathered easily, but it isn't the soap for me. Razor: Edwin Jagger 3d laser cut DE Blade: rapira Aftershave: aqua velva ice blue Bowl: Edwin Jagger brushed nickel Lathering bowl: Japanese flower design bowl Brush: wolf whiskers custom rce #15 Extra: sampling spoon
I had not used that soap before donating it to the box. I'm surprised that the scent is faint! It seemed pretty strong to me in the tub. But again, I didn't use it so I only have the smell from the tub as any type of reference. Glad you tried it even if it wasn't your favorite!
I thought it was a decent soap. It did smell stronger in the container than whipped up. It is worthwhile, but i feel the TOBS cedarwood is superior
Provence sante: Im pretty sure I am a soap snob at this point. This soap helped remind me of that. It is a nice french soap with a classy, albeit very light, scent. I prefer strong scents. I'm sure ive mentioned that before. I had to work it to lather up a bit more. Again, not bad, but I am used to lather monsters. The cushion and slickness were good, not great. I could see using this as a soap, but my den has redonkulous soaps at this point, and I really only use the best. This did not make my list. I don't want to give this an unfair shake. After all, YMMV...but this is a 6.5 out of 10 for me. If I had used this when I started out, it would be more like a 9/10.

SOTD: Soap: Derby shave cream-Lemon Razor: Edwin Jagger laser cut 3D DE Blade: rapira Bowl: Edwin Jagger brushed nickel Brush: wolf whiskers custom synthetic with bishop style and rce #15 colorway Aftershave: Pinaud's vanilla What a pleasant surprise with this soap. It lathered very easy and had great slickness. I felt the face feel afterwards could be better however. The scent was quite pleasant...a fresh, clean, lemon that was much stronger when whipped into a lather. It did have a bit of an artificial slant to it, though. For the price and the sheer size of the tube, this is a definite winner. Oh yeah, im a big Cowboys fan. That's my shave towel underneath.
Soap: Maggard's northern moss Here is maggards description of it: Northern Moss is a complex mix of Grapefruit, Cedar, and Tea Tree essential oils, with a touch of menthol. It is a complex scent that requires more than a few brief moments to fully appreciate. Maggard Platinum Soaps contain higher quality ingredients like Kokum Seed Oil and Coconut oil in addition to Argan Oil and Tallow. They are slightly softer than our regular line of artisan soaps. Me: It is definitely cooling. I was surprised, since I hadn't expected the menthol. For me, living in Texas with 100 degree heat everyday, it was great! The scent was complex and intriguing. This was a lather monster! I barely touched my brush to it and it EXPLODED! Great cushion and slickness. The scent was nice and strong. I was impressed all around. I will now have to check out more of their soaps.

I used to have that soap and really enjoyed it but ended up trading it for something else. I believe Maria Arman of Through the Fire Fine Craft makes all their soaps. The London Barbershop is supposed to be fantastic. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
