Soap Rotation

I use whatever I feel like using that day. No real logic, no real order. As I alternate between a boar and a badger brush, I might choose soaps/creams that work best with each brush, otherwise the only rule I have is that I always use a soap a cream with menthol every Monday.

 

Some days I wish I had only one soap so I didn't have to make a decision, but if I had to choose one right now it would be Poraso. It has a "feel good" effect to it.

The soaps I have are:

• Poraso
• Trumpers cream Sandalwood and Almond
• Mitchell's Wool Fat
• Mama Bear's Awakenings and Bay Rum
• Irisch Moos shave stick

 

Rotation

Strict rotation with me,first I use the soaps and then the creams.One soap or cream per day and then on to the next.

 

I use whatever strikes my fancy that day. Because I usually use an uber-lather, I use a soap and cream combination every day, which add a lot more variables to the options!

 

I like to be flexible. That said, I reach for Proraso at least 2 or 3 times a week.

 

Likewise - whatever takes my fancy on the day. But I have a go to combination of Proraso soap + Palmolive Classic cream that I keep coming back to every few days.

 

I use a highly technical algorithm to randomize my soaps....it's called whimsy.
Really, I make my soap choice based only on whatever strikes me at the moment. Variables include scent, skin condition, and sometimes simply whatever is at hand at the moment.

Having the variety though, is what makes this sooooo much better than canned foams.

I'm a pretty much what I fancy guy, if I had a good shave the day before I might use the same soap, if its really hot I might use proraso or a superlather with any soap with Ingrams or Proraso cream.

 

I have made a new policy: use it until its gone then move on. Right now it's a palm stick.

 

I never repeat any soap or cream for consecutive shaves. But there is no set pattern either - I come back to a few more frequently while some others I only reuse to relieve the guilt of having spent a bomb on them only to have them lying on the shelf. GFT sandalwood is one such example

 

For myself, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays are cream days. The rest are for soaps. No particular order except on Menthol Monday.:anifrozen Just whatever feels right at the time

 

MWF and Valobra stick are my favorite soaps so I use each of them at least once a week. There are other soaps like D.R. Harris, Trumper's, Ogallala, Cella, Wilkinson Sword stick, and Prairie Creations that I try to use at least once every two weeks.
