Down To The Wire I sent the razors off to Paul Bos the day before yesterday for heat treating, so I should have them back in about a week... unless they get lost in the mail. They will be an ugly brown/rust color when they get back. Paul, by the way, is one of the premier heat treaters in the U.S. When they do get back, I will start on the ShaveDen razor first and get the show on the road. Now I gotta figure out what scales to put on it?????????? Purple Heart Yellow Heart Curly Maple Cocobolo Asian Cinnamon African Amazique Kauri ???????????????
I've been lusting after the Asian Cinnamon for a looooong time now. So I have to win if you do the scales in that.
+1 But really in all honesty any of them would just be out of this world. Dark woods are lovely though...
Black walnut...but I like the ebony, too. I know it might sound too understated, but the blade should be the show.
Thanks, Bill! I vote for those scales. Perhaps you should start a poll, so everyone can vote in an orderly manner. And then, you can just choose the scales you think will look the best. :rofl
Or get going with the lottery now and whoever wins the razor can have his own preferred scales installed on it that way its a win-win situation . The cinnamon looks out of this world.... drool
Real good point and that would probably work. The single drawback would be that the losers may not get as much of a kick out of following the tread as the razor nears completion. I'm mean that way... That might be fun... unless I run across something that may look better, but haven't taken a pic of it yet. Let's see what everyone thinks. Only one choice allowed. Hey, by the way. I see a star rating for this thread, but only one person voted. And that was probably me. What's up with that?
Any one of the three bottom center would be fantastic. IMHO. P.S. I voted Bill's Choice. Can't go wrong there!
I had a hunting knife with Desert Iron wood scales; I increased the weight of the knife substantially. Something perhaps to think about? Beautiful looking wood mind you!
I just have to add: Sweet Holy Something!! Those blades of yours is SOO AMAZING - WOW !! And some yellow hear scales on that .. OMG !! drooldrooldrooldrool
