I'm lovin' this Irisch Moos Shave Cream! I am happy to report that the Omega Professional Boar Brush is "Stinky Free" after a week of use. It has proven to be a great replacement for my Rubberset Barbershop Boar that is now enshrined on a shelf in my Shave Den after many years of service.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 Razor: Merkur Progress XL Blade: Supermax Stainless Brush: Vulfix VS/5 Boar Soap: Erasmic A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar Toner This morning's shave was really nice. I'm not a big fan of Erasmic soap, but it performed well with the boar brush. I like the Supermax blades, too, but I like the Durasharps a little more. The Ogallala toner provided a nice finish, but is a little heavy on the cedar note for my taste. I prefer the BR, Limes & Peppercorns scent.
Tuesday's Shave: Arko Shave Stick Omega 10029 Baby-Pro Boar Eversharp-Schick I2 CVS/Personna (Day6) Arko Nem Mango Mandalina moisturiser Arko Aqua AS Splash The blade angle is really always perfect with this razor...It really is so easy it feels like you're cheating...Afterwards no irritation and no missed stubble, just soft, clean and BBS, ...There are somethings about shaving with my DE's I miss, but this is simply the easiest, fastest, closest, shave possible...It's like another whole thing... And today was Day 6 on this CVS/Personna and it was a 5 blade experiance... Its so easy to get and keep the perfect angle, I'm looking forward to shaving with my Super Speed to see if what this razor has taught me about blade angle will carry over to the DE...)
Tuesday morning: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/new 7 O'Clock Nivea SC (new formula) Lubriderm unscented moisturizer JHL AS JHL Cologne I will say this: This Nivea cream which we Canadians have in our stores is a lot better than the older formula. The scent is really nice, and not only that--the lather is very rich and creamy, and it is definitely good if your skin is sensitive. The 7 O'Clock blades impress me a lot.
My shaves often remind me of scenes like this from my childhood. The old man wore only two kinds of aftershave for all the years I can remember. English Leather in the Fall/Winter and British Sterling in the Spring/Summer. Every time I wear either, I'm immediately 8 years old looking at him from across the breakfast table. There he is dressed for work. I never saw him wear anything but those cheesy clip on ties and my Mom, a tailor by trade, chastized him for it every chance she got. To his right is a hubcap sized ashtray mounded over with Tareyton butts. In front of him is a steaming cup of coffee. He never ate breakfast except on the weekends. During the week his customary "breakfast" was a pack of cigarettes, a pot of joe and a cover to cover review of the daily newspaper before he left to start his workday. The smell of English Leather or British Sterling hung heavy though and seemed to follow him like a loyal canine companion.

Agreed. My old man is a always-in-a-rush foreigner with little class, in terms of appearance. He slaps on clean clothes and that's about it. He varies cologne and shaves with a sensor and gel. Nothing really worth writing home about. He's been wearing the same thing for the past decade so maybe that's about all that lingers. All my scents and findings are the first in this family as I am first generation of the "American children" in my family.
I picked up a bottle of English Leather at your recommendation during my recent aftershave acquisition frenzy, and it's one of my favorites. So your dad had an effect on a 32-year-old guy in Texas who happened to get on a wet shaving forum and meet his son ... funny how things work out.
