Saturday, January 15, 2011 Razor: Edwin Jagger DE87 Blade: Astra Superior Brush: Vulfix 2234 Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes & Peppercorns A/S: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel, Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes & Peppercorns Toner Very nice shave--almost BBS. I ran a couple of tablespoons of hot water on top of the soap and let it sit while I showered. Then, the Vulfix brush (dipped in hot water and given a couple of shakes), often considered a "cream" brush, whipped up plenty of creamy lather. I think this works better with Ogallala soap than using a denser brush with more backbone. Anyhow, I can't argue with the results and the Ogallala toner left my face feeling great and extended the intoxicating scent.
SOTD Saturday, January 15, 2011 Razor: 11/16 Packard, Full Hollow, Spike Point, in Pineapple Pre-Shave: Hot towel, Proraso Pre-Shave Cream Shaving Cream: Pre de Provence Lather Bowl: Ceramic Scuttle: RAB Ceramic Brush: Omega Pro Boar Astringent: Dickinson's Witch Hazel ASB: Nivea Replenishing Aftershave/Cologne: Adidas Dynamic Pulse Results: Look in your Dictionary under "Perfect Shave" and you will see the photo below! I used the PdP SC and the Proraso PSC together this morning and it worked beautifully! The Pre de Provence produced a voluminous amount of thick creamy lather that stayed smooth and creamy in the warm scuttle cup the entire duration of my three pass shave. I don't know what was the problem the last time I used the PdP SC but it wasn't because it was used over the Proraso PSC. The lather stayed moist, creamy and dense when painted on my face and provided an awesome shave. I haven't driven the Packard for awhile but I need to go back to this awesome razor more often. It shaves as well as my early Henckels 401 and is a pleasure to look at during the shave process. The Adidas Dynamic Pulse was a perfect compliment to the scent of the PdP SC to top off this wonderful experience. Wishing great shaves to all this morning Gentlemen and enjoy your weekend!
Saturday, January 15, 2011 Razor: Merkur Futur Blade: Gillette Bleue Extra Brush: Simpson Douglas Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Soap: Prairie Creations Peppermint A/S: Meehan Bay Rhum I have been trying out NOS blades for the past several weeks and I have to say, the Gillette Bleue Extra stacks right up there with the best. I enjoyed an excellent shave and the Meehan Bay Rhum is a new favorite...very nice indeed.

Very close and very comfortable. The KMF worked up an awesome lather while the PC soap added just enough classic, manly scent.
40's Superspeed 1953 (Y-2) Super Iridium (1) TGN Silvertip Proraso Sensitive TBS Maca Root Razor Relief Pinaud Clubman AS My first shave with the Iridiums and they delivered quite a nice shave, definitely a smooth blade. Unfortunately they are going to be severely rationed as I only have ten, but it's to be able to try them. The usual 3 passes to DFS, except this shave gets 4.5 blades!
Saturday, January 15, 2011, about 9:00am Tolsom Facial Cleanser Hot Towel with Pantene Pro-V on Face Proraso Pre-Post Cream Vulfix 247 Pure Badger VDH Deluxe, face lathered, brush reloaded before the each pass Merkur 11c Open Comb ASCO Super Stainless Blade (2nd shave, stropped on arm) Cold Water Rinse Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel Neutrogena Triple Protect Facial Lotion Remarks: This is the exact same setup as yesterday's shave, I took a different picture nevertheless. I think it wasn't even 24 hours before I shaved last time, I decided to keep track of what time I shave as well. Today's shave was fantastic, maybe the best I've had with a safety razor. So far, this blade provided me with the best shaves I've ever had; but comparing this blade to others, I also need to keep in mind that my skills with the razor must have increased significantly over the time. This blade should be good for at lest one more shave. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
First straight shave - sorta This was a crazy shave day. I got a no-name straight from whippeddog.com and some red packs from Dridecker along with an Erasmic shave stick. All stuff I have never tried before so it was a smorgasbord shave. Prep: 30 minute marinade with TSD ISZ PSB, Hot towel soak Soap: Erasmic stick Brush: Shavemac Silvertip Badger - Blue marble Str8: unknown straight (First pass only and on cheeks only) Blade: Red Pack personna (new) Razor:1965 SS (finish first pass and then two more passes) Post: Cold water rinse AS: AV Ice Blue First aid: none So the cheek shave with the Str8 was not bad. I need to practice holding it and changing hands. By the time I finished with my cheeks it was time to put it down and pick up the SS. Scared me a little but not enough to put it down for ever.

Sunday, January 16, 2011 Razor: Merkur Progress XL Blade: Supermax Stainless Brush: Grosvenor LE Soap: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Speick ASB An excellent Sunday shave this morning! I've found the Supermax to be a nice blade for me, although not quite as smooth as the Treet Durasharp, especially in the chin area on the first pass. Nevertheless, the shave (3+ passes) turned out to be BBS.
