Very nice shave once again with the Schick Adjustable. I did all three passes on a setting of 5. This is a great little razor and it is really easy to shave with. It would be a great starter razor for anyone new to traditional shaving.

    Cheers, Lyndon

    Happy Friday morning.

    Axe Chilled face wash
    Shave Secret
Van Der Hagen Soap/Barbasol Arctic Chiller
    Van Der Hagen Boar Brush
    Astra Super Stainless blade (2)
    Edwin Jagger DE89L
    Witch Hazel
    Family Dollar Spice
    Nivea After-Shave Balm

    For an nice DFS!

This is pretty much the same combo as yesterday. Another wonderfully smooth shave, even more smooth than yesterday. The second day with the Astra Superior Stainless blade was as good as the first day. The Edwin Jagger/Astra combo is my jam. I’m happy to report my 300 Astra Super Platinum bulk order arrived yesterday, so I look forward to many wonderful shaves ahead!

It’s funny but it seems like my shaves are closer after applying the water and aftershave. At the end of touch-up I’ll feel a little tiny stubble on my neck and say to myself, “A DFS it is, better stop while I’m ahead,” but when I feel my neck (after applying the aftershave) it feels ultra smooth with no stubble. What an interesting and weird affect.

    Aces!

    • Prep: shower, RazoRock glycerine pre-shave soap
    • Razor: Gilette Super Adjustable @ 7
    • Blade: Personna Med Prep (1)
    • Brush: Frank Shaving Faux Agate
    • Scuttle: "Estremoz" V2 Green
    • Cream: Mühle Sandalwood
    • Post: alum, T.N. Dickinson's Witch hazel
    • Aftershave: Mühle Sandalwood ASL
I didn't post day 2 since it was the same shave as day 1. Day 3 was time for the sandalwood samples and I must say I didn't like them. The scent didn't smell anything like any other sandalwood product I've come across. Tomorrow is time for sea buckthorn.

    4/5/13:
Prep: Wash with 365 French Milled Glycerin Soap (Un-Scented)
Pre-Shave: American Crew Pre-Shave Oil (60 Sec under a Hot Towel)
    Brush: Colonel Conk Pure Badger
    Cream: TOBS Eton College Collection
Razor: 1954 Gillette Super Speed Flair Tip (New)
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless
Shave: WTG, XTG, RXTG, Blade Buffing Trouble Spots
Post Shave: Hot rinse, Cold Rinse, Witch Hazel
Inspection: A Kiss from the wifey! (She Approves)

Someone gifted me this vintage razor, and I loved it! It's different enough from my Merkur 30c, that I'll have to refine my technique with it a bit (got a little burn today, but probably don't need the passes I am used to with the Merkur). Even with a little burn though, got a great shave. The less sensitive areas a really smooth, and with a little more care on the neck, I am expecting a DFS tomorrow!

Man, today's shave really made me feel the menthol.

Prep: hot shower, Axe Cooling Face wash.
    Brush: TGN Grade A.
    Razor: '70 Aluminum Tech.
    Blade: Personna Med Prep.
    Cream: Palmolive Menthol.
Post: cold water rinse, Barbon AS, Axe Cooling Aftershave gel.

Something went terribly right with today's shave. Normally, I don't feel much menthol during my shaves. But today, the Palmolive Menthol froze my face. It felt really awesome. The aluminum Tech is a fantastic razor.
I should have been using this razor all along. It's like riding a dirt bike through a course. The Barbon paired with the Axe Cooling Aftershave gel really sealed the deal. This will be my set up tomorrow too.

youngunn Where's my TSD aftershave balm???

What is happening is when you prep the beard it causes the hairs to slide out further, letting you get a closer shave. Then the cold water and aftershave closes the pores and causes the hairs to retract and its even smoother. ;)

    Friday:

    Prep: Hot shower
    Brush: Franks Finest in 22mm
Soap: Mikes Natural Peppermint and Rosemary
    Razor: Schick Krona
    Blade: Feather (6)
AS: Alum, Thayers, and Vintage Gillette 'Wild Rain'

The Krona is generally too mild a razor for me, but I just like it occassionally - tried it with a Feather today, with 4 passes, for an acceptable shave. Face lathering Mikes Peppermint and Rosemary is great! Picked up this vintage Gillette AS on the Bay - nice, general Brut-type scent, but with its own twist.

I don't use many lime-scented products, but whenever I do I really enjoy them. This Godrej Lime cream has terrific lather (as do all the Godrej creams) with a very nice scent. It also gives excellent blade glide. The Booster aftershaves are all Canadian classics - many barbershops here use them. This shave was a pleasure. ;) :D

    Friday

Prep: Hot shower, AoS pre-shave oil
    Coffee: Wegman's French Roast, BLACK
    CD: Blues Masters, Vol. II
    Soap: Tabac
Brush: Ever Ready 200T with original knot
    SE: Gem MicroMatic Clog Pruf
Blade: Gem, day 5, 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse, Osage Rub, Pinaud Clubman
    'Stache Wax: Steve's Own

Another BBS shave. I don't necessarily shave for the results. If I did, I'd probably us an SE for every shave; I've had more BBS or near BBS shaves with my SEs than my DEs. I shave more for the experience and joy of using a variety of razors, most of which are older than I am.

    Saturday - it's the weekend! :happy069:Time to grab a str8!

Prep: Hot shower, TSD ISZ PSB, hone & strop str8
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Kenya, BLACK
LP (yes, 33-1/3 RPM vinyl :D): John Lee Hooker Sings the Blues ~ My Story
    Hone: Duro Electric
Strop: Vintage Blades 2" black latigo/linen
    Soap: TSD Lemon & Cedarwood
    Brush: C&E Pure Badger
Str8: Boker S.S. Spirit of St. Louis, 3 passes
SE: Schick Injector E model, touchup
Post: Cold water rinse, RazoRock rub down, cold water splash, Sean John Unforgivable
    'Stache Wax: Steve's Own

One very minor nick. Still a very good shave, if for nothing more than the sheer enjoyment of it.

    Saturday morning.

    Axe Chilled face wash
    Shave Secret
Van Der Hagen Soap/Barbasol Arctic Chiller
    Van Der Hagen Boar Brush
    Astra Super Platinum (1)
    Edwin Jagger DE89L
    Witch Hazel
Gillette Cool Wave aftershave (a fav)

    Ka-Pow! What a shave! BBS!

I was a little rushed this morning but wow, again, the Astra SP combined with the Jagger DE89L is so sharp and smooth everything in three passes went without hitch! Love my Barbasol and Van Der Hagen lather mix too!

Wasn't expecting a BBS but I'll take it!

Didn't get to shave until just now, which is mid afternoon EST!

    TSD Preshave Balm
TDS Lemon & Cedarwood Soap, couple drops of M-Bomb
    Parker Badger
    Muhle R41 w/ Feather
    Alum
    WH
    Clubman

I've gone back to Muhle after shelving it for a while. I went back at it with a much softer touch, and much shorter strokes, and it seems to work much better for me. The past two shaves have only yielded one weeper each, which is a drastic improvement over my prior experiences with the Muhle.
