Decided to switch my razor for the coming week. The Fendrihan DE is a wonderful 3 piece razor. It has a longer handle than the Tech and it is heavier. I find it is a bit more aggressive than a Tech, but not worrisome. I love how it feels in my hand...balanced and substantial. And of course the GSB is a great blade. First day out and it is both sharp and smooth. The Simpsons Special is like a cross between a badger and a boar. Soft bristles, but still a bit of backbone. This was a wonderful shave. I tried to attract the summer and the sun because the last days were a bit rainy here. This is what i´ve used:


Toro Mastiff // Gillette Bleue Extra (3) // Nightdiver´s Honeystick // Calani Earl Grey // Extro Bay Rum

Very nice shave. The soap lathered well and smelled really nice. The Toro Mastiff is a very direct, without beeing aggressive. It´s very thoroughly and has a very good audible feedback. I used my Extro Bay Rum Afterhsave because of it´s great scent. Not a typical Bay Rum scent...somewhat on the sweeter side. I like it a lot. The skincare is absolutely wonderful.

Beautiful brush and razor Thorsten.

 

Today's shave was a total accident...lol. I told myself that I would refrain from shaving until the bunny razor arrived (expected Monday). I was digging under the sink and found an old tin of some Mike's Naturals Soap. Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to lather it up and see if it was as good of a lather as I remember. With a face full of lather goodness, I had no choice but to "attempt" one pass with my goldedge to simply clear off the lather. Would you believe that the razor felt smoother than ever before! Which only resulted in a 2nd pass and damn near BBS result. You guys have a good one.​

 

Excellent setup Thorsten. I need that brush by the way...lol.

 

So you used a brush with barbasol? How did that work out?

 

Thanks Roby...yes the Fendrihan DE is a nice razor. It only cost $25 CDN. Hard to beat that price for a solid DE!

Mastro Livi K600 "Hand Forged" Rasoio Italiano, 15/16 Full Hollow, French Point​

Yet another Italian shave. Everything of today's shave was made in Italy and - you guess it - most of the items used for shaving were Mastro Livi's. Including this superb hand forged straight razor matched to the silvertip badger, having the same handle materials and colors. Not to mention the shaving bowl with lid made of olive wood and handmade by Mastro Livi. As for the rest, it was just "my usual stuff", that is my pre-shave oil and Bay Rum aftershave, something I do as a hobby and leisure. A super smooth and close shave, this K600 razor always gives a very smooth and comfortable shave. Top notch!​

Quite well,I put the Barbasol in the bowl added a few drops of water and lathered it up.

 

Nice combo. I could see myself using Beaver Woodwright and Pitralon down the road.

 

The Dapper Dan reviews are all in German, but I like how the website I saw it in features products from the 1920's50's. VINTAGE NATION, BABY.

Favorite Bay Rum
It has been too long since I used this favorite combination. The soap lathers immediately and and offers plenty of glide and protection for the Futur to efficiently and comfortably complete its grim task. Krampert's aftershaves is where it all began, and this one really packs the skincare with a great classic scent. My face feels great, and I don't smell like ham - not much clove in this one.

Shave Secret oil under Nomad soap face lathered w/Duke 2 Best
Gillette Fat Handle Tech w/7 o'clock Sharp Edge blade
Witch hazel followed by True Gentlemen ASB finishing w/ Floid Vigorosso aftershave

2-passes w/touch-up for a near BBS shave. I should be good until Tuesday..........

I came out my Morning Meditation this Morning as part of my Gung Fu Practice & enjoyed my Shave with my Henkels 7/8..The Mindful Focus of Mediation on One Single Issue Transcends itself into a One Single Focused Activity such as Shaving with an SR..Anybody that has spent time in Seated Mediation will know that the mind can only Focus on One Single Issue at any Given Time..Multi Tasking is a Delusion of the Modern World..

This Razor is ever so comfortable & forgiving..I had 3 days of Growth to Cut down & One WTG & One ATG Pass and Dolphin Smooth..This is the 1st time I have used this Volbora Tallow Soap..Is a good old fashioned tallow soap with quite a sophisticated kinda scent & does the job very well..I enjoyed my Sunday Morning Shave.

Time for some Gung Fu Practice and then Go for a Pint or Two at my Local ..
