I am loving straight shaving now that I have a couple of razors with a well honed edge! I was going to put a couple of straight shaves into my rotation but now....I will try to put a couple of DE and SE shaves into my rotation. Looks like my preference has changed!

Hang in there GI! I know that you will get an edge on that W & B eventually and it will be as keen as your Reynolds! The wedges are definately different to use but they are a cool change from the hollow grinds from time to time. I have given up on my honing ability (as far as initially setting a good bevel) and will send them out to be honed. After that, I can maintain them on the Barber's Hone and strop. BTW, haven't used any British Sterling AS for decades! That used to be one of my favorites. I'll have to work on that!

 

Do you know what year your Gem Jr is from? Mine is from 1912 and I absolutely love it but I hear the earlier ones are even better.

I let momma choose the razor setup for today's shave, and as luck would have it she chose one of my Pal injectors, a razor that has never been kind to my face. So the cream choice instantly became automatic, TSD Wheat Cream.

The result?

A much better 4 pass shave than expected, I was saved by the awesomeness that is JoAnna's Wheat Cream, again.

Yet another great shave, a little less discomfort today because that Feather is dulling a tad. Tomorrow should be amazing.

British Steriling- Check CVS or Walgreens, I've even seen it at Walmart a couple times. Affordable goodness and for me at least an instant trip down memory lane to my father who would have turned 91 yesterday. Here's to ya Pop!

 

JoAnna is not only the Queen of Blades ...she is the Queen of marketing! Anyone who can manufacture and successfully sell an aftershave with a "Monkey Fart Scent" is a marketing genious! Way to go JoAnna!

 

You know you are right. I was even thinking about the motor oil scent. I may get a sample first though. Seems a little pungent from the name obviously.

Rene, I guess great minds think alike. There was just something VDH in the air this morning so I went with it. Nothing fancy here, just good old blue collar shaving goodness. ZZ Top on tunes (Blue Jean Blues, Tube Steak Boogie, etc.) I find it strangely amusing that the only guy in the band without a beard is the drummer whose name is Frank Beard.

This is getting dangerous--I am falling in love with the Tet-a-Tet cream. I enjoy it more and more each time I shave with it. The Arko Aqua gel has a hell of a nice cooling and soothing sensation.
