Saturday evening: I got home from work and fancied a wash and brush up. There were two packages for me today - an old pat. 1912 Ever Ready in a lovely Green Bakelite case and another package containing some TOBS Mr. Taylor Cream and AS. So that set the stage for the shave 1912 Every Ready w/ GEM SE Blade Parker Badger Brush TOBS Mr. Taylor Cream Gillette Series AS Balm TOBS Mr. Taylor AS Azzaro Pure Vetiver EDT I got a DFS but had to touch up with my Parker 89R and a little oil as I missed a small patch under my jaw sort of under my ear. Oh and I finished off with some Brylcreem in my hair. All that grooming and I never even went out for a drink Had to be in bed early for work on Sunday so it was all just pure indulgence and pampering for the sake of it

It felt great to use it this morning, especially since the wife and daughter are still sleeping, and the dog has been walked, so I had lots of time to enjoy a great shave!

They are FANTASTIC! I'm discovering that of my SEs, I'm liking my MMs and the lather catcher most. I did roast some Kenya last night. I'll let it rest a couple of days before grinding. It seems a few extra days more for the Kenya than what I let other coffee types rest develops a flavor more to my liking.

Awesome dude! Congrats! Steve, does letting it rest make it oxidize a little to get the flavor? I know that O2 is what makes already ground coffee taste not nearly as "alive" as fresh ground, so I'm just wondering what the rest does. No sweat if you don't know, I'm just curious.

That takes amazing pics for a little guy. It's quite humbling as I'm using an SLR-Canon Rebel Xsi. I've only had it for a few weeks and have a LOT to learn, so hopefully I'll at least match your quality with my fancy pants camera. It does do an amazing job with action shots-my son is a gymnast and my daughter plays volleyball. I may need a better flash than the one that came with the camera.
Sunday, April 18, 2010 Razor: Merkur Futur Blade: Gillette SharpEdge(Yellow) Brush: Simfix Grosvenor Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Soap: Cyril Salter Shave Soap A/S: GFT Marlborough The Simfix Grosvenor teamed with the Cyril Salter soap to produce mounds of lather. The Salter Soap is probably my favorite non-tallow shave soap. It lathers easily, has a very pleasant lavender scent, and has good cushion and glide. While I prefer my tallow soaps, this is a good alternative. The GFT Marlborough will always by in my rotation...I love this stuff! Oh...another BBS shave.

Thanks Danny! My little Sony has it's limitations but, for what I use it for it does fine. My DW is the real photographer in the family! She has three or four of those high end camera's and she really gets into the photographic arts! Yours sounds very top drawer and that's great for taking those fast action shots of your son. In my case, I'm just shooting shave gear! :happy102 No worries there!

Fresh roasted coffee gives off CO2. That's the purpose of the little one way valve you see on bags (not cans) of coffee. It lets the CO2 out without letting any O2 in. O2 will make coffee stale in about a 10-12 days. I roast a pound at a time - two 1/2 pound lots - and that'll last me 6-7 days. The recommendation is to let it vent (rest) for at least 12 hours after roasting, then store it in an airtight container, or one with the valve, until you're ready to grind. I've just found with the Kenya a few extra days rest enhances the flavor. For more info, if you're curious, check out Sweet Maria's web site (I'm just a happy customer ).
Ahhhh, I see. I love fresh ground coffee but figured it was an ordeal to grind your own. I see now that it isn't. Great info and great site. TYVM Steve!
Only takes a half hour, 45 minutes to roast up a pound using the stove top popper like I use. Couldn't be easier. Send me a PM if you want any more info. We now return you to TSD's "SHOWER or SHAVE of the DAY". Thank you.
