Had a great 2 pass shave plus clean ups this morning. Not BBS but not far off either. Decided to run the razor without a shim this morning. It's not quite as efficient without the shim. Hope everyone has a great week.

    Aggressive April - Day 7 (4/13)

Prep: Hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar
Soap: TSD Barber Shoppe shave stick
    Brush: Omega 13522
    Razor: Cadet OC
    Blade: Astra SP
Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm

Forgot to take a picture this morning what with having my 4th nosebleed in 3 days this morning. Back to my 30 Day Focus with the Cadet OC. Quick 2 pass WTG & ATG shave, no irritation, 1 small weeper under my chin.

Pre- Warm shower, Mickey Lee Lime Pre Shave Butter
Brush Soak- Sriracha Mug of Doom™
    Razor- Fatip Piccolo/Ikon 102
    Blade- Personna Red/Personna Med Prep
    Soap- Mickey Lee "Drunken Goat"
    Brush- Omega boar
Post- Cold water rinse, Witch Hazel
    Aftershave- The Cool Fix balm

Let the scruff get too long, so I did a combo shave with two different razors. Mowed down the bulk with the OC and
did clean up with the Ikon. Did a little ATG experimenting on my cheeks with the OC, and got some really good results.

Figured out the head is a little bit wonky on the Fatip, so the blade bends up a bit on one side. So I just shave with the even side.

It just doesn't get much frostier than this!It starts off slow with a nice burn, similiar to a Bay Rum splash, then the coldness starts to creep in and in and in until my eyes started to water. The soap itself is very easy to face lather, good cushion and slickness. The scent, well it reminds me of the big bottle of menthol crystals I bought in a health food store. If you think Stirling Glacial soaps are too cold then don't even think about this one, like Jeff I'm pretty immune to menthol, but this one made my nose and eyes water!

Gillette Gold Plated Tech/Lord SS (1)----- Another first for me,Lord blades and it was a good first impression, nice and smooth.A 2 pass face,1 pass dome left me BBS! This blade reminds me of the ASCO Orange wrapper blade that I liked so much, unlike the red wrapper which was a tugfest on me.Tomorrow Fatso's up so I'll see how it likes a more aggressive razor.

I decided that for this week, or at least as long as I keep this frame of mind, I will be using only MDC. 3 passes today and another BBS shave with no nicks, cuts, weepers, or irritation.

MDC unscented w/ 6 drops Rose Essential Oil
    Rapira Swedish blade
    Slim Adjustable

    Menthol Monday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Bolzano (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (1, 2, 3)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

My success on Friday in producing good lather with the Stirling Bay Rum gave me renewed confidence in getting good lather from the Glacial Obsidian today. As before, I have to spend half again as much time on the puck as with my other current soaps, but the lather that results is more than sufficient to the task. The Bolzano isn't quite the ideal pairing with the Bamboozled RAKE, for me, particularly on the first day, as I got a couple of weepers on the ATG pass (which is not atypical for me with a blade's 1st day, regardless of razor). Otherwise, I got BBS results.

Gerry, in all honesty I found the Glacial Lavender soap which I used this morning not only frigid, I found it BLOODY frigid. I would have rated it a small step behind the Cryogen, although you're 1,000% right about it being the new coldest soap on the planet. The Cryogen has "politely" moved the Glacials aside when it comes to menthol power. I'll be using it tomorrow morning. :)

    MONDAY
    Lazy morning shave
I didn't get around to shaving last night and slept in this morn, so my shave was much later than normal.
Forgot it was 'menthol monday,' and wound up using Martin de Candre when shaving with the big Turner blade. Despite my forgetfulness, it was still a great shave!:happy088:
    Have a blessed Monday, all!

image.jpg Razor: Gillette New SC Red & Black set 1930s
    Brush: Vintage 1940s Badger
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
    Cream: Cella classica 1899
    Blade: Feather (2)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Balm, Vintage Avon Mesmerize cologne
Back with the Gillette New SC, I really like both the LC and SC, so I'm going to use them a lot for awhile. Loaded a Feather blade, and checked the alignment. The Badger whipped up a thick warm lather in my go to OS Mug. Had to open a new Cella as I finished up my first jar. It took almost 1 year to use it up, and I used it a lot. Very close two pass shave with some touchup. More aggressive than the LC so I had to pay close attention. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some JB Balm. Then some nice Vintage Mesmerize. Nice razor, great feedback and I can get into some spots on my neck with only a little buffing. I'm glad I got both the SC and LC. Can't tell if I'm Mesmerized or Sleepwalking .....what do you think Les?

Another delightful shave, and a great way to begin this week week that promises beautiful weather. Opening day at Fenway today!

The combination of North after Musgo works rather well.

    Happy shaving!

I have found the same problem with my Fatip, which I solved by careful adjustment when I load the blade. Of course, the Fatip does not see much action these days, except on a whim. But when it is called off the bench, it provides pretty smooth shave.

    4/13/2015 Menthol Monday!! Woo Hoo!!

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Gillette 40s Super Speed, CMON Filarmonica Doble Temple straight razor
    Blade: Wilkinson Sword (4)
    Brush: Turkish #6
    Soap: TSD - Iced Subzero
After: Home made ASB, Osage Rub after shave
    Cologne: Cuir Cannage

A good cold water shave on a Monday. The Iced Subzero just exploded off of the #6 brush. I ended up with enough thick lather to do 6 passes. The Fily sang me a song and the SS put the icing on the cake. The Osage Rub brought the arctic chill and the Cuir Cannage will have me smelling great all day. All in all it was a Darn Fine Shave.

    Have a blessed day!
