    Monday 4/18/16 shave:

Prep: Hot shower, Nivea Face Wash
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Lather: Ginger's Garden Grass Stain Menthol Snow
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Dorco Prime (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (1, 2, 3)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Thayer's Witch Hazel pad, Aqua Velva Ice Blue Sport AS splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

I finally got around to finishing off the delightful Grass Stain Menthol Snow soap puck from Ginger's Garden; I call it a mixed blessing, since I liked the scent but now have a container ready-made for my second Coffee Jasmine puck from Irena. The soap lathered up beautifully with the 56, though using the last dregs made it a bit trickier and a bit less mentholated than when it was in its prime. Speaking of 'prime,' the Dorco Prime is a pretty decent blade. If you like the 301 - and I know it's a more divisive blade than some - the Prime might be worth checking out (though the price-point is, IMO, disproportionately high for the level of improvement over the 301). Three passes got me DFS+ results with only one spot of blood, thanks to the removal of a pimple via razor blade.

    Razor: Gillette Gold Tech 1940's
    Blade: Derby Extra (2)
    Brush: WDC-7 Olivewood Silvertip
    Soap: Route 66 Frozen Margarita
    A/S: Booster Iced Lime
    Bowl: 3D printed

I still have work to do with this razor. I'm not getting the angle correct just yet.
The Route 66 Frozen Margarita has juicy notes of Mexican lime and sea salt, light hints of plum, berries and apple over mid notes of rose and jasmine; anchored with earthy, freshly cut hay, topped with a dash of cooling menthol. Long lasting, slick lather. It also has a protective cushion and glide soothing post shave conditioning. Works well with any of my brushes.

    The One Blade
    Feather FHS-10 #2 & GEM SS Coated #1
    Druida Robo
    Route 66 Frozen Margarita
Witch Hazel, Whipped Shea Butter, Chilled Proraso Aftershave

Today's shave was outstanding. Changed blades after the first pass since the Feather started to tug. Used a GEM SS Coated blade for the second pass. Two passes + clean up = BBS all over. Another close, comfortable, and efficient shave. The One Blade makes repeated J Hooks, Slide Strokes, and Buffing easy, with never a cut.
The Robo I had no problem delivering a super lather today. Route 66 Soaps are easy to lather, have great lubrication, with good skin care, and smell really great. Frozen Margarita has a pleasant scent and a nice icy chill, perfect for MM. Finished off with some chilled Proraso Aftershave. Have a Marvelous Monday!

I'm wondering if my irritation is from the razor and not the blade... I changed the blade today and still was a little rough on the neck. Other than that, I finally used the Veg today. Not bad at all. I can still catch wiffs of it 6 hours later. It had a slight sour smell when first applied but that goes away rather quickly. It is a keeper. I do need to figure out what's causing the irritation all of a sudden though.

I have not, never have. I'm thinking it might be the razor. I changed soap and blade today but used the same razor. The Slim style head has never been a favorite for me. I think I'll change up the razor and keep the same blade tomorrow to see if it changes back for the better.

I need to figure this out fast since I'm leaving again on Wed for another long business trip.

What an interesting razor. Who made it or makes it?

I tried the second straight from my grandpa today. I actually used all three of the razors I inherited from him. The edge on the Nielsen's seemed overly tuggy so I wanted to compare it to the other one and used each for one side of my face - mostly above the jawline. They were both pulling but the Gebruder Ziegler was a little smoother. Both have been shipped off to be re-honed. :char039: I'm also getting a Rolls Razor and a Heljestrand blade honed so you can guess what will be in the line up in the near future.
