I know many purist don't like either that is a brushless cream, or the medicinal smell, or that it tends to layer thick so you need to water it down, but having said all that it still is a good performer and even with this type of aggresive razors, a 4 pass shave and some buffing, the alum just gave a minor thingling.

It's just barely big enough to make lather in. I prefer about a 20% bigger bowl if possible. It's not easy to find white lather/shaving bowls. I had to roll with what I could get.

    Arko Adjustable April

    April 5

Razor - 1972 (S2) Gillette Super Adjustable (Black Beauty) (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Jayaruh #230
    Post - Alum

Ten days until Tax Day! Ah, that's not important. What is important is that today is the second shave with the Black Beauty Gillette and Rapira PL blade. Arko for the win with the JR230. This is one of my smallest brushes but does a fantastic job. And it looks cool too. It loads so fast I'm not sure how long it would take it to use up all of the Arko in the mug, but longer than I imagine, probably.

Two passes, then a partial third to touch up and get everything to a near-BBS. That's a fine finish for tonight. And a nice way to head into the weekend. I'm not sure how my "weekends" will work yet but I'm confident Saturday will not usually be a part of them. Too much money to be earned on a busy day and night. Hope you all have a great two days - weekend or no!

Well the GEM went 4, still working to get consistent with head angle in stroke with the LONG cap profile of the GEM, it's efficient, but intolerant of much carelessness, blade done at 4 shaves.

Another April day driving my Chevette around.

Loaded up half a Big Ben. These were leftover from the sample blade pack I got when I started. They have never impressed me, but I am sure that most uses were when I was developing my skill set, so I probably didn't impress them either.

Went with Stirling Dunshire today. Something I had not noticed before was a similarity to my fav Stirling for Him. I'm gonna go back and forth a couple of times to further educate myself. I kinda did this with Stirling Blu. I recall a negative review on the Stirling website where the comment was that SfH was merely Stirling Blu relabeled, nah! Run of the mill Stirling lather.... Awesome! As always. These boar brushes really can churn up a lather. Glad I got one.

The Big Ben is a capable blade, I thought that a third use GSB topped this new. One could get more shaving with it but for me it's a one and done. Next up probably Astra.

Smeared on some Lucky Tiger Face tonic. Nice stuff that somebody here at TSD recommended saying I'd thank him later. I don't remember who it was, but, Thank You!

Topped it off with Dunshire A/S. Smell good - Long time.

I really do like this Focus R21 Shavette. I tried to get a photo that shows the recessed blade and corner guards. I have not tried another shavette and not sure I will.

    Shave free.

A fantastic shave today. The copper handle by a member of a UK Forum, gave the razor both nice heft and balance.

I love the smell of this weird looking soap.
B&M advise using a Synth, due to possible discolouration of natural haired brushes.
But, as this is out of the question for me, the Bigger Bambino offered to take one for the team, and the G-Bar and I were glad he did.
    Happy Shaving one and all.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Amalfi Basil Lemon Shave Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #340 Badger brush. I did two passes with the H. Böker 5/8 razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
