A late shave this evening. I had absolutely no time this morning and by mid afternoon the stubble was beginning to drive me crazy. The shave was mild ....but very efficient. 3 passes for a lovely finish....and I am actually beginning to enjoy cold water shaves!

A very, very good shave with the VB Emperor. No accolades yet as I’d like to get a full weeks worth of shaves in but, it was a surprisingly good start. The Elios Inox blade was very smooth and sharp. Great evening and shaves to all...

    APRIL FOOLS SHAVE!
    20190401_134524.jpg

    Prep: Pears Menthol Soap
    Razor: Wilkinson Orange
    Blade: Rapira SS
Brush: Maggard Blue & White Synthetic
Soap: Wickhams Super Smooth- Club Cola
    Post: Stirling Ben Franklin A/S

Found out a bit late that todays April Fools day or i would have busted out the B&M SoA as it was a surprise April's Fools soap release a few years back. Have had Wickhams SS in the queue for a while now so today was its turn.

Scent of Club Cola is much like one would expect, a cola scent that some describe as a Lemon Tart and is heavier on the citrus than clove or other spicy notes. This is one of the better Cola scents on the market and is very well done IMO. Ordered this soap directly from Wickhams when they discontinued the Super Smooth line (in favor of the 1912 formula) and shipping from the UK to US was VERY reasonable.

Performance is very good and whips up a thick lather with no problems. Only ended up needing about 1/2 of the amount i scooped out and still had enough lather for 3+ passes with some to spare. The 1912 formula is perhaps a bit creamier texture wise but this Super Smooth is still a decent soap and is the 1st soap i recall with Pig Lard, being a older formula i'm surprised there are not more artisans using Manteca or Pig Lard like some A&E soaps and perhaps a few other artisans. Lather can handle water well and provided a great drama free shave. This plastic Wilkinson Sword razor is a steal for $3 although i still prefer the Wilkinson Sword Classic (around $10) this one has a unique loading design that makes it different from any other razor. Finished off with Stirling Ben Franklin and the two paired beautifully together.

Hope everyone had a great day and swell shaves!

Yes sir. A new adjustable from Vikings Blade. The color and a review from a shave member on another forum ignited a spark. Had to get it..... :angry032: ;)

    Arko Adjustable April

    April 1

    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Alum

And we're off! The first day of Arko Adjustable April is well underway and it's time for me to settle and get my first shave of the month in. I have to say, being able to load a Voskhod made my heart pitter-patter tonight. It's been a month without Russian steel and, while there are many good choices other than Russian, none is as good in my universe. Obviously I pulled out the Arko and for the first adjustable of the month I chose the Toggle. I am also reunited with my synthetics, so the 30DC Limited Edition got the first call with the Tuxedo knot.

My mug of Arko is rather dry but it didn't take much to get it up and going and an easy load of the brush and lather on the face produced that legendary lather. Easy lather, great two pass shave and touch ups with the Toggle (wide open, of course) and I finished with a near-BBS that has me ready to go for the morning. I have a meeting with my health insurance agent tomorrow to finalize all of that and then I'll be on the mean streets of the Lou putting money in the bank. Spring is definitely starting to show up here - again - and we hope it's permanent this time.

    Have a great Tuesday!!
