    Arko Adjustable April

    April 1

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette 195 - The Fatboy
    Blade - [IMG]
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Omega 10066 BoS
    Post - Alum

My, my, my. April is off to a ROLLING start. 21 pages already. Yep. We're the best place for shaving anywhere! Thanks to Chris @Bama Samurai for opening us up again. Nice to have the boss back in town and giving us great info like that video on shave sticks too!

Now, having said that, I rarely use Arko as a shave stick. I buy it in stick form, but grate it into a mug then press it to make it a puck soap. Or a mug soap. Whichever you prefer. My Seaforth mug holds 1.5 sticks of Arko, and at the rate I use it that's a LOT of soap. I'll try to work this current one down to the bottom if I can. Then, it will be ready to reload. I have 10 sticks waiting.

So why Arko, you ask? Well, when it comes to bargain prices and top performance, Arko is a legend. That lemony gift from Turkey (I know, I know, some of you don't think it smells lemony) is a true classic in what you can call "the basics".

As for the adjustable side of things? Well, why put the Fatboy back on the rack just because I used it for two days in March? It's got some life left in it with that Sharp Star so there you go. For the lather win, the Omega boar and it did a fantastic job. No April Fool joke with this shave. Three passes, Fatboy wide open, and the baby is in the house with no issues. Have a fantastic night and a better Thursday!!

The little shave soap jar version of Pinaud Clubman works very well for me. I haven't tried the cream. I haven't found a reason to since the soap is working so well.

I really like that Klar Seifen shaving soap. I own a couple of them and they are amazing performers.

Hmm, haven't tried their shave soap yet. I may need to do that . I had picked up the cream on a whim when I purchased a large country club size of the aftershave. Thanks for the heads up.

    Speick Shaving Cream
    Jayaruh #400
    Gillette 109 Black Beauty
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWR
    Speick AS

The Speick Shaving Cream face-lathered well with Jayaruh #400 brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette 109 Black Beauty with a Gillette Silver Blue blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Speick AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Thanks, Tommy. Fougère never came to my mind. Weird.
Edit: Just did a bot of research.

    1) My bottle is the original Cosmair version, from 1991, before the reformulation which removedthe oak moss.
    2) It is indeed a fougère, so thank you for the education.
    3) As I mentioned yesterday, the scent unabashedly received the SWMBOSOA©
As for the shave soap, I will give it another go today, this time face lathering to see if I can create a better lather.

    Thursday morning:

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Derby day 6
    Bundubeard Kameelperd’s Kick SS
    Prep ASB
    B&M Arctique AS Splash
    Azzaro Wanted By Night EdP

Thanks to my cherished 1950s Super Speed I was able to get through these three passes without cutting my face to pieces because I was squinting for almost the whole time - this Kameelperd soap is a menthol atom bomb - to me it’s delightful in every way. The scent is awesome, the lather is A1, and it feels as cold as Siberia in midwinter. (I’ve been there!) The Prep was a pleasure to massage on afterwards, and the Arctique aftershave brought the freeze to another insane level. What a dynamite shave this was!

Be healthy and safe - we’ll get through this!
