    April 26
    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette 195 Fatboy (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - I*V16 Hybrid Badger/Boar
    Post - Alum

Back to beautiful blue skies and lots of sun. One thing about living here - it's never dull. Closed out the day with the same setup from last night. Well except for the brush. Went for the second of my hybrids in the mesquite handle and it's a beauty like its brother. Turns Arko into enough lather to bottle and send some to everyone. With no head shave to worry about tonight there was no worry about blood-letting either as the Fatboy and Rapira did a fantastic job of providing a smooth shave and a BBS finish. I'm ready for a day off tomorrow. Hope your week starts off great too!

Thanks Gary. The 3rd week of using the straight only and I'm really digging it. I now appreciate this style of shaving and can feel myself falling into another rabbit hole. I never used T+S soaps before and based on using Rainforest 2 twice, I must say their soaps are outstanding. Based on this one set, I must say the soap base is probably my favorite performer. It is so slick and it leaves my skin feeling great. I also think it provides the best lather so far for using my straight. Really comfortable. Enjoy those shaves and hardy breakfasts with the bird soundtrack brother.

Thanks Matt. You always have great reviews and an outstanding collection of soaps (and the most amazing pictures). I never used T+S before, and have been enjoying this set immensely the past 2 shaves. It is my set-up for the week and must say these are some premium, luxurious products IMO. The scent description peeked my interest, so I went for it. I have heard other reviews question T+S on their scents, but Rainforest 2 works for me. It really seems to light up on activation during loading/lathering as well as it seems to have some more depth with scents coming out as you go. I must say, sniffing the soap just off the puck was underwhelming. It definitely needed to be lathered to appreciate. The lather is very slick and really has an outstanding post. I will need to try more of their offerings. Although I'm a straight novice, this soap has been the best with using it so far. The razor glides so smoothly over it and leaves plenty of moisturized residual slickness. It is like there is extra tallow. The PAA CK6 was my baseline, but it seems to be a bit below the T+S when using my straight. I find that I probably use more pressure with the straight - something I'm working on - and it removes more of the residual slickness during my shave. I typically push water in my lathers, but have been more conscious of this using my straight because water/slickness is your friend - more so then with DE's. I'm now getting BBS' with the straight with no blood, weepers, or cuts so it it just a matter of tweaking my technique and continuous improvement. At least something good has come out of COVID 19 - lol. Just a great time to learn using my straight and enjoying those shaves.

I took a break from the Hawk and was rewarded with an amazingly smooth and close OC shave thanks to the Taiga Adjustable. I'm smiling and off to sleep. Happy shaves all. [IMG]

    2020-04-27, Monday

During one of my vigils last night, I watched a reasoned documentary about Leonardo da Vinci: who knows what he would have achieved if he had the technologies of this century.
Or even just of the last one...

And then I 'listened' what a superficial listener might assume being nebulous ramblings of our never admired enough Prime Minister.
Perhaps it is in the Constitution that clarity and synthesis cannot be used in the announcements.
Ah! If I'd been more attentive to my teachers...

Instead all my attention is focused on shaving and this morning it whispered me 'Use the violet cream'.
    And I did!

At first I put on Sonny Rollins' What's New, but it was too hectic for a shave, so rushed out of the shower and changed records and took refuge in the suggestive womb of Baker.
