Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Razor: Jaggerooney
    Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
    Brush: Simpson Emperor 2
    Soap: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet (tallow)
A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel, Trumper Marlborough Splash

An excellent Sunday shave--smooth, close, and comfortable. I wish this soap would last forever, which is why I use it infrequently. I can't understand the motivation for Penhaligon and other top-drawer companies to reformulate after spending many years building such fine reputations with their old formulas. Maybe it has been found that tallow causes all manner of dreaded conditions, including acquisition disorders, and this information is being suppressed by a secret shaving cabal. :happy102

    Omega Wooden Handle
    Super Speed/Derby day 2
    Arko Moist SC
Anherb AS Conditioner :love008 :love008 :freezing :freezing

A very smooth and nice shave this morning, but I really miss my Rapiras. I find that I require a little more effort with the Derbys to get the true BBS results. The Arko Moist cream is good, but it doesn't have enough of a menthol effect by itself, so I gave it a big boost with the Anherb conditioner. ;) :D

Rolls Imperial/Schick type O with Gillette twin blade

    Vintage Colgate Cup Soap

Second day in a row trying a Rolls, a different one today. Second day in a row I had to finish with a Schick injector.

The one pass with the Rolls went better today, though. This blade may still need a little more work, but I think it's close. When I started, there was a lot of tugging, just like yesterday. Without much hope, I tweaked the angle slightly, and suddenly I was getting a pretty good shave.

Still a little tugging, and it was extremely hard to keep that optimal angle. I decided not to push my luck and try more than one WTG pass. I finished off with the Schick, for the usual fantastic results.

Definitely worth revisiting next weekend, though. I also have to wonder if the other blade was in better shape than I realized, and I just needed to find the angle.

By the way, this vintage Colgate is great stuff. Don't know how old it is, but I'm guessing 1950s.

    Blade: Dorco 300 (1) - straight
    Brush: Altesse Badger
    Cream: KMF Key Lime
    A/S: Royall Lyme

First ever attempt at straight razor shaving. Only did partial passes because my 4 year old daughter was in the bathroom watching and talking the whole time. While I love her company, it doesn't do wonders when you are trying to use a straight razor for the first time. :D

What can I say...I get great shaves from all my razors, but this Injector has a consistancy that boggles the mind...Every shave is just perfect... smooth, cool, soft, effortless, yet as close as I would want...

I apologize for all this raving and gushing...It gets redundant so quickly...:)

I met with Williams Warrior / Keith yesterday and traded a 5/8 Shumate for the Parker Shavette. I have heard that shavettes can chop you up, but using the superior skills gleaned from TSD I pulled off a great shave!

Now I am off to figure out how to use this new Droid thingy. Getting the Tapatalk on there so I can use TSD is my first mission!

    Have a fantastic week Ya'll!

I can't get over these blades, what a smooth shave. The Sabi did a good job exfoliating, ended up with BBS legs. It just doesn't get much better than that!

Now, off to finish up my Economics :sick007 homework for the week and play with my new phone.

Have a great rest of your Sunday! :D;):D

Got to work nights, evening shave

    Merkur Vision/Perma-Sharp Blade/MWF/Bestshave Horsehair #6/Osaga Rub/Royal Copenhagen cologne

I'm working night shift tonight and I have some time for a nice slow relaxing shave. First off it's my first time with the wool fat and I really didn't have high expectations for it. I assumed it was over rated. I have pretty hard well H20 too, so I expected some problems. Well, as with ASSUMPTION you know what can happen. BAM !!!!!!! the lather just exploded on my trusty horsehair, a few swirls in the Old spice mug and it's gushing over the sides !!!! This soap is suppose to be hard to lather ? I certainly didn't expect this. Then to the face, thick really creamy lather, feels good. My 1st impression, well hmmm, this is a darn good soap.

Then on to the Vision, it's Big, real big. I usually like smaller razors. What was I thinking buying this thing? .......... Thirty seconds into the first pass and this vision is so well balanced. The size is not a distraction at all. Very maneuverable and nimble. Once into the groove, the size feels just right. This thing is slick.

Three gentle passes, and I've been rewarded with a total BBS shave, and my skin feels so soft. The MWF and vision have performed exceptional. I am blown away by these two on my first use. Hopefully all future shaves with these products will be of the same caliber.

Great shaves today. Gentlemen have a good evening.

Shave Of The Day - May 1st, 2011

    • Hot Shower
    • Vintage Butterscotch Horse Hair Brush
    • Noxema Lather Shave Cream ~ :freezing
    • Lord L6 Razor
    • Rapira Platinum Lux Blade ~ Day 1
    • Thayers Witch Hazel/Osage Rub Blend
    • Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue ~ :freezing

The Rapira Platinum Lux blade was on my short list for my next bulk blade purchase, but their availability was a kinda limited at the time, so I tried some other blade brands.

Today's shave just reinforced how well I like the Gillette Permasharp blades, for while I had a nice enough shave, it wasn't as effortless or smooth as the shave I was having from the Gillette blades.

The great lather of the Noxema cream, coupled with the nice finish of the Aqua Velva, still pushed this to a 4 blade shave. :)
