Pre: hot shower, Lush ocean salt face scrub
    Brush: EJ pure
    Cream: CO Bigelow
Razor: '71 Black Beauty (3 passes on 1)
Blade: Astra SP (3rd & last use)
Post: Pinaud's bay rum, Body Shop maca root razor relief

I'm working my way through the assortment of sample aftershave balms I got at the mall last week, and the Body Shop maca root is pretty good. It doesn't seem to leave much residue and it doesn't irritate my skin at all, although I'm not crazy about the scent, and next up will be the Lime balm from Crabtree. I've been liberally splashing on bay rum after my cold water rinse, letting it dry while I tidy up, and then applying balm, and I like the results so far.

Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash
    Brush: #6 Turkish horsehair
Razor: Gillette black handle super speed
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock yellow (4th shave)
Soap: Pyrate Cove Cucumber and Mellon

I decided to take a small break from the straight razor for skin healing purposes. I need to work on my technique for shaving my right side with my straight razor, so while that area heals I am back to DEs exclusively for a few days. I pulled out my puck of Pyrate Cove Cucumber and Mellon because I haven't used it in a while and wanted to remind myself of why I like it so much. I soaked the #6 brush while I took a shower and was pleasantly surprised to notice that I have finally gotten it to the point where 90% of the odor is gone. For my razor I selected my trusty Gillette black handle super speed with a fairly well used 7 O'Clock yellow.

I soaked the puck of Pyrate Cove for a few seconds while removing some of the moisture from my brush and then went to town. With the perfect water/soap ratio this soap produced its usual creamy abundant lather and filled my bathroom with a pleasant, sweet scent. The lather went on smoothly and provided a nice slick surface for my razor to work with. The razor did its usual great job and the blade was superb. I have to admit that I was not a fan of these blades at first, but they seem to mellow down extremely well. I did a three pass shave followed by a cold water rinse and was rewarded with a BBS shave with zero nicks or irritation. A text book perfect shave.

Well, for whatever reason tapatalk would not let me add a picture to my previous post (which I accidentally posted half way through my write up and then had to edit to complete it), so here it is, my SOTD picture.

The cucumber and melon soap sounds interesting. I love the way the TOBS grapefruit I have smells, but wish it lasted longer. I wonder sometimes if after the first whiff of the fragrance my sense of smell gets dulled a little and I don't notice the scent as much.

    SOTD Tuesday 4-30-13

Prep: Hot shower, Cetaphil, TSD ISZ PSB, hot towel
Soap: TSD Lanolin Iced Barbershoppe mixed with Bigelow cream
    Razor: '46/7 'Crat
    Blade: Super-max Titanium
    Brush: AOS pure badger
Shave: 4 passes face, 2 passes back of neck
Post: Warm water rinse, cold water rinse, Clubman AS, Clubman talc on body
    Pomade: Murray's Superior
    Cologne: Cartier Pasha

Really took my time on my neck at the adam's apple, where the hair swirls. I usually get a nick there due to how the hair lays down and how sensitive the skin is. But this time I got really good and smooth there with no problems. BBS once again. Also shaved my back with a Merkur 34c and Gillette 7 o'clock yellow, with help from the misses. Very refreshing on this warm spring day. ;)

I'm so BBS this morning that it's unreal - the best blades for me are the Rapiras. They're so smooth as well as sharp, and they have very good longevity. I went all-out again with the menthol this morning - the Gada Cool Mint cream, Visal gel, and the Rubby Dubby Doo did a terrific job of freezing my face off! ;) :D
