I've had this razor laying around for a while. Cleaned it up last weekend and honed it up last night. IMO, it's all that's right about American straights, it's a stiff shaver, takes a fantastic edge and will shave with any razor I own. I really like the feel of this razor. I have a couple Red Imp's made by Case but this one has an entirely different feel to it. Well, I won't bore you anymore but I had a superb shave with a fantastic shaving razor. Have a good one.

This morning I used my new Schick 500. It is by far the best Schick injector I have used. I like it more than the I2 that I had. It is the combination of solid workmanship and a piece of art! I am very happy with it. :)

Nice shave in my interim home. It felt good to take off the whiskers after not shaving for 3 or 4 days. Very smooth and my face is soft again. Plus I finally get to put my dopp kit to good use after my girlfriend got it for me at xmas.

Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash
Brush: Muhle HJM 41-P-3H tortoise shell boar
    Razor: Edwin Jagger DE86
    Blade: Croma Diamant
Soap: De Vergulde Hand Extra Fris
    Post: Cold water rinse

I received a nice little PIF of Croma Diamant blades from a member of another forum who saw that I was interested in trying them out. Inspired by these German made blades, I decided to set up a Germanic themed shave. Starting with a Croma Diamant blade (made by the same folks who make Bolzanos) in an Edwin Jagger DE86 (Ok, the EJ is English, but EJ and Muhle products were developed together and are all pretty much interchangeable...plus the English are a fairly Germanic group of folks, even if that part of their ancestry is a bit far in the past). I pulled out my workhorse Muhle boar brush and soaked it while I took my shower. My puck of DVH Extra Firs (a Dutch soap) also sat soaking.

First things first, De Vergulde Hand Extra Fris has an awful scent and I do not like it, but the scent calms down when lathered and leaves a very pleasant after scent on my skin. It may start off overly harsh and sharp smelling, but it ends light and clean. I have used this soap about a half dozen times and have nothing but good things to say about it (other than the initial scent, that is). The soap loaded into my brush amazingly fast and lathered up so thick and creamy that it could have been mistaken for whipped cream. The soap applied smoothly and provided an excellent surface for my razor to work on. The Edwin Jagger glided smoothly and the Croma blade provided a glassy smooth shave with zero irritation or nicks. I performed a three pass shave and ended with my usual cold water rinse. The results were a BBS shave along with one of the most pleasant shaving experiences that I have ever had. I went into this shave expecting a difficult to use and harsh blade, but I am happy to say that I was 100% wrong. Unlike the Bolzano blades, which I DID find to be overly harsh, the Cromas were surprisingly smooth and forgiving. If these blades continue to perform as well as they have in their initial outing, then I will be happy to place them in my top 5 blades list.

    Good morning gents

    Travel kit shave
Flew to Sydney for work with only hand luggage. On an overnight stay. I thought I'd give the following a go. It's been a long time since I used the Mach 3.

    Proraso pre
    TOBS Mr Taylor's SC
    L'Occitane Travel Brush
    Mach 3
    Thayer's
    L"Occitane Cade ASB

The brush - meh. Not a fan but it sure dried quickly. Reasonable for a once off shave. Will probably use my Duke 2 badger more often for travel, especially when it's for several days.

The Mach 3 did a good job. Not as much fun though. Probably will continue with this when I need to take hand luggage. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1367444421.283503.jpg

    TOBS Avacado SC sample
    Omega Mighty Midget (mixed)
    EJ89dl
    Astra SP (4)
    3 pass shave
    Cold Water splash
    Pinaud Clubman

I really like the Astra blade in the EJ89dl now. Six months ago I didn't.
The TOBS Avacado is a good cream, but I like most of the TOBS creams I've tried.

Pre: hot shower, Lush Ocean Salt scrub
    Brush: EJ pure
    Soap: L'Occitane Cade
    Razor: '71 'Beauty (3+ passes on 1)
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (new)
Post: Pinaud's bay rum, Crabtree & E.'s West Indian Lime balm

Wasn't impressed with the Gillette Silver Blue. It didn't cut as well for me out of the paper, and I had to do more passes than with the Astra. The bay rum stung more than yesterday, which makes sense given that I did more passes and some touch up work. With the Astra two passes got me where 3+ did today. The Lime balm is nice, no sting or irritation so far, but it definitely leaves more residue than the Maca Root. I'm liking the Lush scrub -- I've gotten several uses out of the sample and there's still probably half left. Tastes like ocean water when it gets in your mouth, but has a nice exfoliating effect and leaves my face feeling squeaky clean without any irritation. I may buy a tub of it when the sample runs out. . .

**Just discovered a note from USPS, I'm pretty sure my new Simpsons brush has arrived and is waiting for me at the Post Office. :)

That W&B got very "soft feeling" edge after last honing session. Seems I did something proper way. Really like how it goes.
