    Thursday morning!

Schick E2 Injector with Schick blade (7)
    C.O. Bigelow Premium Shave Cream
    Van Der Hagen Boar Brush
    Witch Hazel
    Pinaud’s Special Reserve

Cold water three pass+ for a BBS!

My C.O. Bigelow cream arrived yesterday, so I made a practice lather last night, and the lather was beautiful with plenty of cushion. I let it sit on my face for awhile it felt so good. I filled a half-gallon water jug with water and placed it in the fridge overnight to have extra cold water in the morning.

This morning I was surprised at the closeness I got from the Bigelow cream, wow, I probably would’ve been fine with two passes and touch-up! I should’ve because I got some small weepers. Long after the shave my face feels moisturized and cool, smooth and comfortable.

Made more discoveries about my process. My face gets blotchy red spots if I rub the brush too vigorously over my face (like I did this morning), that’s what’s causing the redness I believe.

Thanks to Williams Warrior and Gairdner I’ll be having some different brushes to try soon. Hopefully I won’t get the redness with these. I might try to hand lather tomorrow instead of using my Van Der Hagen brush.

    Aces!

How does the Special Reserve smell compared to the regular Clubman?

It's a different, more masculine scent than the regular, which seems sweeter. If you've ever been to a Catholic mass it smells just like the incense they use. I love it! It smells real old fashioned!

    Great shave.

This was a firstie with the brush and the cream. I love both! The cream has a nice light odour and whips up really fast and well to a rich creamy and cushioning lather. The brush has a lot of backbone (which I happen to like!). Only thing is the handle which is a straight cylinder. I would have liked a bit more curvature to have more grip. But overall it's a nice little brush! And both are nice addendums to my den.

The one shelf I got to use in the closet is overflowing!

    Have a nice one!

Pre: hot shower, Lush Ocean Salt scrub
Brush: Simpson Case in Best (brand new, 1st use!)
    Cream: TOBS Grapefruit
Razor: '71 Black Beauty (2 passes on 2)
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2)
Post: Pinaud's bay rum, Lush Cosmetic Lad

The big news of the day is the arrival of my new Simpson Case brush in Best badger, and I'm planning a separate post on it alone with more pics when I have more time.

I went to #2 on the 'Beauty today, since yesterday's shave with the new Silver Blue wasn't great. The blade came alive more on 2, and I did two decent passes with it. I'm getting better, no burn, no cuts, but still a few missed spots. The pic above is after I dipped the brand new brush in hot water and a dap of TOBS, and lathered up in a bowl. It took a little longer than it does with my other brush, but worked well in the end, especially considering that the brush is brand new. I rinsed out my "practice lather," showered while the brush soaked, and tried face lathering the TOBS. It worked really well, the little brush holds a LOT and I did two passes without adding more cream to the brush. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much different an experience it is with the new brush, review to follow.

I forgot I still have Valobra stick till I grabbed it by random from shave stick stash. Great soap, nice soapy scent and top performer! But quite expensive.

This was my Monday morning menthol shave. I am sorry that I haven't been online too much lately but I have been super, super busy. Crazy really. Work has kept me very busy and I have had almost zero free time. I wanted to let you know though that I have been skimming through the posts keeping an eye on what's happening on TSD.

I am now relaxing for a few days at a small resort in Thailand on an island called Koh Samet. I am right at the southern tip of the island where it is very, very quiet.

I didn't shave yesterday so today I will be going with the DE89L and maybe a new Lord blade. It's pretty hot in Thailand right now so I will use the 444 and Barbon again today.

Hope you all have been well!

    Take care, Lyndon

Our beautiful warm weather continues, so my Cracky Wacky Ticky Tacky Menthol Extravaganzas also continue - the new Proraso Green cream is now a definite keeper for me. My dear friend Dmitry sent me the Svoboda balsam which is so cooling and soothing, and the Alt Innsbruck gave me that wonderful icy punch that felt so good. What a great shave. ;) :D

Have a fantastic weekend, my friends! :)

The blade could have been a little sharper. I had to stop and give it a little attention with the strops but ended up with a nice, comfortable, close shave. The I Coloniali is a good soap and made the shave. Have a good one.

    Friday morning!

Schick E2 Injector with Schick blade (8)
    C.O. Bigelow Premium Shave Cream
    Van Der Hagen Boar Brush
    Witch Hazel
    Captain's Choice Bay Rum

Cold water 3 pass for a fine DFS!

Again, an amazing smooth shave with the Bigelow, I'm hooked now! Today I paid attention to how I used my brush, I held back from vigorous scrubbing and gently painted the cream on, and NO redness today! I'm in love with the lather making process again.

I'm amazed by these China made Schick blades. Day 8 and feels like it can handle more shaves. In comparison I only use a DE blade for three shaves (three pass each).

    Friday

    Hot Shower
    Taconic Tequila Lime SC (sample)
    Vie Long 12603 (horse)
    EJ89dl
    Vokshod blade (1)
    3 passes
    Osage Rub aftershave

The tequila lime was an interesting scent, not sure if I like it or not, but the Taconic lathered beautifully. All of the 3 Taconic samples I got made a good lather. The Vokshod was a new blade for me, it didn't perform as well as the Astra SP, not bad but it didn't cut as smoothly and the final shave wasn't quite as close. Still a DFS though!
