I packed it up and sent back to Amazon. When I got home yesterday, there was quite a few hairs sticking out of the knot again after my daughter used it, rough guess 15-20 so left them as they were, wrapped back into the paper then the box so they can verify for themselves. Since it was a gift and a brush I would not have bought myself I'm ok with not getting another one. I told my friends thanks for the thought anyway and DO NOT SEND ME AN AMAZON GIFT CARD as replacement. Signed it all in caps so they get the message. Glad you like yours though. I've only had one Best Badger and that was a Parker and that was a great little brush. Denser and no funk smell to it than the Duke 3 that I had.

Good morning friends. Today was my first shave with the Gem and an SE type period. I have mixed feeling about this razor. This thing is super loud and it cuts very close, after 2 passes adjusted for my growth and with touch-ups to my troubled areas i'm dolphin smooth. This blade doesn't flex so whatever is in the way it's going down and it worked really well for my heavy chin growth which it just mowed down effortlessly. Getting under the immediate nostril area seems impossible to me but it works so well atg under the nose that it left nothing behind. So why do i have mixed feelings? Well, is it effective? Hell yes! Is it fun to shave with? Nope! It's bulky and the angle makes it so that you must hold it at a very steep upright position which tends to feel unnatural to me. Perhaps that could change down the line with more practice. Have a great shave and a great day folks. :)

    Topcare Stainless(2)
E-Shave Badger Brush(not in the pic)
    Barbasol Original

At the last minute I decided to put the Barbasol in a bowl and apply it with a brush, with great results I might add!!
My shave was smooth and comfortable no irritation and ended up BBS!! :happy088:

What a relaxing shave! B&M Lavanille gave up some excellent lather this morning, slick enough that I could barely feel my Futur as it delivered a drama free BBS. Voskhod is my favorite blade - sharp enough and very smooth. I finished up with Lavanille splash to carry the intoxicating scent through the day.

I have mixed feelings about SE shaving, too. Very efficient but not so comfortable for me. I have only tried the OCMM, though.

For that same reason I'm hoping to try something that will feel more maneuverable. :)

    Polsilver Super Iridium blade.
    Ever Ready 500PBT brush.
    Maggards London Barbershop soap.
    Vintage Jade East as splash.

    Try an Injector!

I have found that going cross grain under the nose is the easiest for me, especially with a SE.

TOBS pairs nicely with the Proraso products...especially the Proraso Blue ASB.
I am down to less than a 1/4 tub of TOBS Natural...and I can't seem to get beyond that...even with daily use (and a heavy finger). I have several theories: either this is all my imagination, the soap regenerates on its own during the night, elves are at work and refill my container (again, at night), there is a false bottom, or this experience is similar to the saying, "a watched kettle never boils".

This shave was just as BBS if not more than what a professional barber could have done. My Junjie/Astra combination did one hell of cleaning me up. The Glacial Eskimo Tuxedo's freeze was off the charts and so strong that I don't know if I was able to feel the menthol from the Diana balm or the Frostbite aftershave! :happy088: :happy088:

I have an N1, i love it! Also a Schick adjustable on the way. Just hoping there is something in a traditional SE type that's more fun to use. :)
