That brush is big. I'm still getting used to using a synthetic, but I really like it. Not a Sterling soap fan but I think you will like the Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel :eatdrink047:

Stirling was my 2nd artisan to try in terms of soaps. PAA still tops them in my short experience. I will see where Catie's Bubbles fall in terms of my ranking system. Then I will order some Soap Commander after that. I do believe I will like Thayers. I wanted to get rid of that post alum feel. It takes away any post shave feel i get from a good soap and replaces it with a "non gliding" clean surface; which then makes the post shave experience that much more critical. Thanks ObiDon

For uploading pics, when you post or reply, you can either use attachments by using "Upload a File"option at the bottom right or you can use services like Imgur, Photobucket, Tinypic, Flickr, etc and directly link your image from any of those accounts using the little "portait" icon next to the smilies.

August Focus - Slim and Feather AC
    August 14

It was an early Saturday morning following a longer than usual week. My alarm went off but I chose to ignore it and hit snooze a few times to many. By the time I went vertical and felt around for the coffee pot with my eyes still shut (freshly made coffee is hot, by the way) and went to take my shower I decided that shaving was out of the question. So, I offer the following as a weak and lame excuse for my "no-shave Saturday" today.

That means two days growth for the Feather SS tomorrow! Have a great evening.

Another superb shave with CRSW Jd'O soap and balm. I bloomed the puck with a little water then loaded with my HIS dry. Thick lather built easily on my face, providing plenty of slickness for the Fatboy to do its job efficiently. This no drama BBS was finished off right with the Jd'O balm, leaving my face smooth and smelling good but not too strong for church.
I had gotten five great shaves from the previous Voskhod. I decided to start a new one this morning so as not to take any chances. I think I could have gotten more from it. I will see how many shaves I can get from this one.
Prep: cool water rinse, Van Yulay PSO
Soap: Cold River Soap Works Jardin d'Orange
    Brush: HIS XL
    Razor: '59 Fatboy
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
AS: Cold River Soap Works Jardin d'Orange balm

    Sunday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger
Lather: Ginger's Garden Grapefruit Mint soap
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (4)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (8, 9)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's witch hazel, RazoRock Cumba Cheech AS balm
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron

A couple of days' growth were no match for today's setup. The Ginger's Garden whipped up into a nice lather, the Bic is still sharp and smooth on day 4, and the Cumba Cheech worked well to make my face feel extra smooth and soft. CCS results in 2 passes.

If this shave was any colder I'd need a space heater to warm up. The Glacial Lemon Chill soap hit me with a major menthol freeze as well as had my eyes tearing and my nose running. I'm still not used to these Glacial soaps being so easy to lather - what a 360 degree change! The Glacial Wintergreen balm and witch hazel added tons of additional iciness. BBS with total enjoyment. :)
