Nearly perfect today. If it weren't for those persistent trouble areas each of us has that we can rarely eliminate 100% of the stubble, it would have been completely perfect.

I want to give a special nod to KMF.....so very under rated. I asked myself why don't I use this stuff more often. Inexpensive luxury.

4.9 out of 5 blades today folks. Life is good :)

Starbucks Italian Roast, Black (finally good coffee)
Gillette New-open comb (I Think), with Lord Platinum (D2)
    Omega Boar 10015
    Proraso White
    Osage Rub-Speik Balm

Changed things up a bit since I'm home today. I wanted to try the Gillette new again. The first time I used it I gave myself a severe case of razor burn so I put it away for a number of months. It gave me a nice shave with the lord platinum. It doesn't seem to give me as much feedback as the Slim. Pretty close with no nicks. I will post some pictures of this razor next week when I get some free time, I can't seem to find a date code on this. The speik balm seems a bit oily and has a cedarish smell to it. A bit heavy for the summer, I might stow it for the winter months, but my face feels pretty good. I love the proraso white, it just works so nicely for me.

Well... I feel a single shave does not a review make Bob. :)

All in all the first shave was smooth, now to test its longevity.

I understand, but the first impression of the Voshkods blew me away. It was nice, very much like the 7 O'clock Permasharps.

I much prefer the Voskhods. I did not like the Permasharps at all.

    *gasps*

They were my first "holy crap" blade. So smooth and effortless for me. I love YMMV....keeps it all interesting.

It felt much like a Permasharp blade to me too, and if the longevity is near that of a Permasharp (well actually since Jody managed to get them to us so cheap), if I get 3 shaves from them I'll be very happy with the purchase.

Takes a bit of fiddling to get one lined up in the razor.

Merkur Progress set somewhere between ? and ? (my knob ain't on right! probably around a 3.5 though)
    Voskhod [1]
    AOS Lavender Pre Shave Oil
    TGN Silvertip Badger
    Truefitt & Hill Lavender
    Nivea AS Balm

Well, today wasn't supposed to get an SOS as my girlfriend took me to get a Royal Shave at the AOS store in Westchester (NY), unfortunately the barber wasn't in when we got there so we had to raincheck it. She did however treat me to some nice Lavender Pre which wound up using in the wee hours of morning, as I was pretty scruffy and didn't feel like waiting until morning to shave. It seems to be a good product, although it's hard to tell from one shave with something like this. The second time out with the T&H also wound up good. For some reason though, I feel like it's not *quite* living up to my expectations right off the get-go. It does give up very nice lather, and I love using it due to the wonderful aroma that wafts around my face, but it doesn't seem to provide as much protection as I'd thought. Maybe I'm just not hittin' it right yet...

Very nice, I didn't know they did actually make Irisch Moos in a bowl, no wonder there was interest in getting them to make it.
