Ogallala Bay Rum is one of my favourite bay rums. They come in a few different versions, and the Bay Rum and Sweet Orange is my favourite soap, while the Bay Rum Limes and Peppercorn is my favourite Aftershave.
Today however, I chose a different setup and it did not disappoint.

From what I have read, there has been some complaint from some that the soap is difficult to lather up, and that the lather has no staying power. Luckily I have no such experience. I loaded the brush for 15-20 seconds and got more lather than I could ask for, and the lather was full, strong and filled with life and vitality. Yes, it was almost like a shampoo commercial.

Today I loaded the Astra blade in my EJ de 89, and it was an even better match than the Merkur 34c. A sharp blade on a pint of slick later does indeed equal a quality shave. Too bad my face is isn’t pretty, or I would have been very happy with what I saw in the mirror :)

To top it of, the Ogallala aftershave always give me a nice and pleasant burn

    Razor: Edwin Jagger de89
    Blade: Astra Platinum:
Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum and Sandalwood
    Brush: Semogue 1305
Aftershave: Ogallala Bay Rum Sage & Cedarwood

Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Shield Face Wash
Razor: Mongoose B3 Dr. Bomber handle
    Blade: Feather Pro Guard
    Brush: Stirling Synthetic
    Lather: MdC
Post: Alum. Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
    Aftershave: Fine Clean Vetiver
First shave with the Mongoose! 2 days growth was no problem with this blade/razor. Was the 11 week wait worth it? YES! The Mongoose is a stunning piece of hardware, perfect balance, you know once you pick this razor up you're picking up a high quality stainless steel razor. Smooth as silk! No irritation at all! I did a 3 pass shave, but I will tell you I wanted to keep going. MdC was the obvious choice for the maiden shave. WOW!

image.jpg Razor: Gillette Ball End Tech NDC (declared 1947) Birth Year
Brush: Vintage Ever-Ready 300L with TGN Silvertip 18/51
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
    Cream: TOBS Grapefruit cream
    Blade: Feather (1)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Balm, Tommy Bahamas St. Barts cologne
The TOBS whipped up nicely with the Silvertip. The Gillette Tech is a nice mild razor for me even with a Feather blade. Very nice two pass shave with some touchup. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some JB Balm and then some Tommy Bahamas St. Bart's. Early shave, y'all have a good one!
