The U.S. Service Set was offered by Gillette 1917-1919 (1917 pictured). It was offered to the public to purchase for their soldiers and advertised as being compact enough to be beneficial to them (it was required to be clean shaven)

Originally in a bright nickel finish, they were quite the eye catcher, but had a steep price of $5.00.

 

A bit careless & heavy-handed this morning...I blame the lack of coffee for my m-bomb boo-boo. The menthol blast certainly woke me up, though!

Soap: Derby with 4 drops of Bergamot and 2 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oils
AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush

I really loved Gillette Knack's shave. It's closer, more comfortable and aggressive than I expected in shaving.

 

I've collected quite a few injectors over the past several months and used them all more than once. They don't all shave the same and despite the fact that Nick successfully shaves with an E series daily, I can say that my E series injectors are my least favorites. I get my best shaves from my J series and L series. YMMV
With any of them it's definitely a different feel and you'll need to play around to get the angle and pressure right but keep experimenting and keep buying razors (you can never have too many).

 

It is using the DD for my cheeks and neck, then the Aristo for the goatee/chin area. DD 3/4 and Aristo 1/4.

I would have to agree with you, John. I have several Es and they are not my favorite. I have an I1 and an I2 that I really like, and of course, my M adjustable is hard to beat.

The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap face-lathered very easily with my Frank Shaving Finest Badger brush. Two passes with my Gillette NEW LC and a Gillette 7 O'Clock Green blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

Thanks. That's good to know. Seeing Nick's razor every day is what inspired me to give one a try. I hunted one down that looked just like his. But, I also have a G1 that I haven't yet tried. I have a Hydro-magic (I2) on the way, too.

I have tried C.O.Bigalow and I am not getting the cooling effect from the menthol I am thinking because I shave using cold water anybody having this problem?

Evening Shave for Tomorrow
Smooth, comfy shave with the C-Mon Special. Similar to both the DublDuck and Beau Brummel, an easy, smooth razor that glides across one's face.
A very pleasurable shave! I wish I had this razor when I was learning to SR shave! Of course, with hindsight, I can appreciate it more now...
