Finished restoring this razor today. I honed it with Norton 1k, 4k, 8k. I Tried finishing on a 12k china hone, didn't like the results. I have what I think is a translucent arkie. I used oil and tried it out. Very smooth mirror finish on the bevel. I used some paste on a balsa strop, then used my linen, and leather strop. Very smooth cutter. Got a nice shave with it. Love the singing the blade does as it cuts through my hair. I am happy with the hone job.

After a couple weeks with the LC NEW, it was time for a change. The R41 did a fantastic job this morning, DFS and no irritation. I didn't think it would be this difficult to use one product from start to finish, but I am longing for some variety. I really enjoy Walter's Rose, but approaching 2 months of daily use, I could use a change. I probably have 4 to 6 more weeks out of this puck. This exercise has really made me think about both quantity and quality of the products I purchase.

I used four drops of glycerin with the Col. Conk Lime to make a thick, creamy lather. The fourth shave with the ASCO blade was very smooth. Everything worked today for a great shave.

    Conclusion Day 2:
Well after traveling for a week this morning's shave was truly a great experience! The scent of this Lavender is a real treat. I have tried several Lavender scents and this is certainly one of my favorites. It has just the right amount of camphor to balance with the flowery notes creating a straight forward and clean, yet powerful scent. The soap creates a thick, creamy lather almost effortlessly from the tin. The more I try this soap as it was intended to be used in either the tin or bar form the more impressed I am with the results. The density and cushion of the lather created with this soap is truly right up there with some of the best. Tomorrow will be the final day of this scent in the Tour De Mike's, but it will be hard to move on. I sure am glad I purchased a full tin of this soap! Summary and scoring for this soap will be posted sometime tomorrow. Back from Vancouver...My father is on the mend from a bout with meningitis praise God! Have a great evening all!

    Sunday

    Prep: Hot Shower
Soap: Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic
Razor: 1950 Birth Year Gillette Tech
    Blade: Personna Med Prep
    Brush: Chesterfield/Carrington Synthetic 22mm x 49mm
    Aftershave: Krampert’s Frostbite
WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

This was the 3rd shave with my Tech and the Med Prep blade. I am still with the Stirling MITA. I will be ordering more Stirling soaps! I did have a small nick under my lip (not styptic worthy), but no burn. The Frostbite did its job as usual too. The ARCTIC and the FROSTBITE make a great combination, especially in August down here.

What a magnificent shave shave which froze my face off so beautifully. The Palmolive Cool cream which as I've said many times is the exact same as the Italian Palmolive Menthol has an awesome scent which I love so much, and the lather and menthol power are to die for. The Anherb conditioner is something else which I should look in to getting again soon. ;) :D

    Sunday:

Prep: Hot shower, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: VDH Boar
Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine Glycerin
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum, cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
Cologne: Polo Double Black by Ralph Lauren

Second go-round with the Bic as I sort through my Final Four, and I'm reminded again why I thought so highly of this blade to begin with. Smooth, BBS shave with no irritation, just a minor nick over my Adam's Apple where I lost focus. I think that for this second round, blade longevity will play more of a factor, so I'll be using the Bic (and the Trig, the Treet Platinum, and the Bolzano) until I find the shave uncomfortable, so I can best gauge value.

Nice shave this morning, very smooth and close. I think this knot's going to work out great. I'll leave it as is for a few more shaves and glue it. A few bowl lathers with it to help it along opening up should do the trick. Have a good one.

Prep: hot towel, African Black Soap Beard Softener Oil
    Soap: VDH
    Brush: VDH
Razor: Merkur classic with Merkur blade
    Three passes
    Splash: Aqua Velva

DFS, not much burn this time - I reapplied the oil between passes 1 and 2, maybe that helped my burn prone neck? Fresh cool from AV lasted longer, too... don't know why.

Dale, I went crazy and temporarily have it at 53mm but I think it might stay there. Very dense and soft, which was what I was looking for. It's just a matter how it opens up and that can be helped along to a degree. I have no complaints from this mornings shave.

As cream is excellent, but what you will not like my friend, is that menthol is barely distinguishable.
