ebay, it was not used.. perfect condition. so ez to find a mint one, it shaves like a GEM micro matic for me, shallow angle, and u almost dont feel the guard...The Valet Auto strop is really easy to find on ebay, and even brand new.. usually around 20 bucks.. VC4 is the last model I think, there built for stropping back and forth, I never do that ... we are so lucky feather stainless steel SE spine less blades fit in most (Not all!!! So be careful ) autostrops, also this later model feels much better than the older ones, also Gillette owned valet when these later models were released.... only crappy thing is the feather blades are expensive and I only get 2 shaves a blade, by 3rd shave it's rough
But the 2 shave's are outstanding

8/7/18 - Tuesday night shave.

I used my Rare SCHICK TYPE L with a Purple handle - also this Type L was advertised and marketed for the dames - but its the same as the mans razor - just a purple handle.
Used a twin blade which really makes the Type L efficient. The Twin Blade is also Rare - it is made in the USA but was sold in Canada - I think its from the mid 80's judging from the package and the cardboard is not yellow. This was shave # 1 & 2 - so this new blade was just outstanding.

"Shout Out" to "THE SHAVE DEN" SOAP MAKER!!! I have the Lanolin & Wheat soaps from the GREAT TSD Store. They are both Good but I prefer the Wheat soap, I have sub zero and Iced Sandlewood. The Iced Sandlewood joins Proraso, AOS, and FINE as my FAVORITE sandlewood scents. Now the Wheat Soap gives me A++++++ lather - thick and Rich, tons of slickness & Above average performance/post shave. If you don't have a TSD product - I say start with the wheat soap! U cant go wrong, and you support the best shave site and good people - see the lather bomb pick below with my Semogue SOC badger/boar mix - yah that wheat cream sure does lather!!

***EDIT - Had a great 3-pass BBS shave with no nicks, only a single weeper that quickly disappeared as quickly as I saw it. There is no irritation in the post-shave. The reason I think this blade is lasting is because I'm removing it from the razor and fully cleaning/drying everything before putting the blade back in. This has fully prevented corrosion. While I've done this before with past blades, this one is lasting an extraordinary amount of shaves with an intact edge. I'm going to keep shaving with it until I feel a mediocre shave. We'll see how many shaves I can get from this wonder-blade.

Shave two with the Soviet Consul but shave eight with the Personna 74 blade. I do believe this is the first time I've ever indicated 8 shaves on a DE blade. I've only ever been this high with AC blades in the pain sticks. Amazing that it's still hanging in there. Well, not hanging in there. Still shaving like it's a new blade. I had expected something by now indicating it's starting to show its age. A little drag? Nope. A bit of roughness? Nope. A finish less than BBS or near-BBS? Nope...the baby is in the house again after two passes and touch ups. This blade is just doing what it was made to do. Shave. I'm beginning to think that Tungsten was the magic coating that made blades permanent - and the various blade cartels decided to never use it again! Nobody would buy nearly enough blades if these were still in production. Remember also - this blade is a U.S. blade made by the American Safety Razor people who owned the Personna brand. And while modern Personna blades are top shelf items, they don't compare to this one. Wow. Simply wow.

Speaking of wow - the JR54 with Iced Pineapple was amazing as well. The icy feel at the end of this shave was to die for. Amazingly refreshing and the pineapple scent with that menthol kick is enough to make me take the tin to bed just to smell it all night. Wonder if my wife would notice?

My weekend is finally here. I need it. Work has been an absolute terror the past two days. If you read anything in the paper about a mattress store burning down with a screaming fiend in it - well, you get the picture. I'm hoping that two days off will reset my brain a bit. I think some extra time with my head in my shaving gear and all of that will be a good thing for me.
