    Saturday night's shave

First time using this razor, got it at an auction, and it is very mild. It is in great shape and came in its own case, but don't think it is going to make it into rotation. May have to use as a starter for my boys![IMG]

Great shot, Doug! Love the rainy day feel. Wish we could have a long soaking rain here. It's hot and dry.

Today I had time before church for a straight shave using the @jtspartan drydock bowl (a daily tradition) along with:
Soapy Science - Doc’s Special Blend
    Hart Steel 6/8
Doug Korn Aquamarine w/ Shavemac D01
Chatillon Lux - Bon Vivant (not pictured)

First of all I’m liking the Soapy Science more and more as I use it. It really allows you to get nice thick lather or thin it out easily with water without it becoming a runny or breaking down. That’s a really unique feature of the soap that I like a lot.

I’m also realizing that much of my irritation when straight shaving is a result of too much pressure, just like it was for all of us when we started DE shaving. Much like you hit a golf ball further when you don’t try to swing hard I get a better shave when I don’t try to “shave hard”, yet in both instances I find it to be my natural inclination to go harder when I’m not getting the results I want. Today was a much smoother, irritation-free straight shave as a result of thinking about this. Like @Keithmax , I probably will require a fourth pass for my neck, as it continues to go no better than a DFS for me there, despite closer to BBS results everywhere else. I’m hoping focusing on the straight (time permitting) during September will entice the baby.

As for the D01, it’s a nice firm wall of badger with just a bit of scritch. I’m not a huge fan of scritch, so it remains to be seen if it will become an acquired taste for me. Still a very enjoyable brush, nonetheless.
