Today's shave was with a Japanese Razor. I had another great 2 pass shave, that left me DFS. I was in a hurry, but no issues.

Razor- Japanese "Coral 1070". For Professional Barbers Use.
Brush- B400 By Tom
Soap- Arko/Sandalwood scented
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy. Vikings Horn Decanter.

Notable points from this shave
1. OSP Barbershop is an excellent soap. Scent is great, post shave feel excellent.
2. My Aristocrat was very efficient across 2 passes. Still my favourite razor.
3. I love my new scuttle! Acquired this week in a trade I thought it would be a bit of a novelty but I'm hooked! Awesome hot lather. What a lovely new experience in my shaving journey.

My second shave with the Dollar tree razor and blades.Both days the blade starts out a bit "grabby" but settles down pretty well.Never as smooth as a derby or wilkinson blade.But each time a DFS almost BBS.Go figure.I swear I have to use a slightly different angle with this DE as opposed to my other DE's.

On another note I broke out the Avon Musk Fire gift set I had picked up a few years ago.I must say I just don't care too much for it.It is an odd scent with nothing much standing out except Musk sweetness and powder and an odd spice?back note.Waaay back.This will probably get gifted or yard saled.The Marine Musk is much better.

Excellent shave. The Big Red has a way of piling on the lather. Same slickness and richness, but piled on thicker. I find the painting method works best with this huge brush. It leaves it piled high, ready to be shaved away. The Stahly did just that. I can't remember a more efficient result with such a mild feel. It felt very nice paired with the Ikon bulldog. I finished with a double tap of Test Depth balm and Cool Wave aftershave. Excellent shave.

Not much variety there, "buddeh". Teasing.....I liked the PAA description of that one.

 

Tim, Nice pic. How do you like Solstice? Does it remind you of any other products? I have been interested in this scent.

 

Fine Platinum IS Xecutive Man (and vice-versa), right?

 

I like it. It has a semi-sweet (sort of a dull-sweet) resin at the core of it, and all around the fringes of the scent area wisps of what smell like desert bushes. I don't smell any florals, and it's not really what I would call 'herbal', but there seems to be very tiny vibes of what is close to herbal-green-desert plants. Like if you're in a desert town in the South-Western U.S. and a breeze has caught some of the plants. I've smelled all of these smells before, only at much, much smaller concentrations in the air of Las Vegas/Arizona/East-California/Utah. I just have been so used to it that I didn't notice all these years, but this fragrance allows the smells to be apparent that have been around me all this time and just not picked up in any obvious way.

I think it's a good scent. And, like Atomic Age Bay Rum, I find the EDP spray to have more sweetness to it than the aftershave/cologne splash, which I prefer the cologne/splash, even if it doesn't last as long. The EDP's concentration seems to give a different scent profile to my nose. Clearly the scent notes are the same, but seems like they are in different concentrations from the EDP to the cologne-splash. In all scents I've tested, the cologne/splash has better balance, I'm able to perceive a deeper number of scent notes and seems better balanced. I have a theory that this is because Douglas is very likely designing the scent for the splash and the splash itself with more care, or he's using different methods for the EDP that have an effect on how my nose perceives the entire fragrance as a whole. I definitely don't want to give anyone the idea that the EDP's are bad, because they are still good, just not as good as the splash/cologne IMO. I don't want to discourage the making of the EDP because I think he's doing something good with this endeavor.

 

Yeah they're both Creed Aventus style I believe.
