Shower: Burt's Bees Men's Care Soap
    Brush: The Body Shop Syntax
    Soap: Omega
    Razor: Parker 22R
Blade: Astra (Day 6!!!) Ok, I really should have changed the blade. Did get a DFS, but going to go for another pass with a new blade after while.

Victoria's Secret for Him VS ASB Black

A lot of firsts today. My brother generously gave me some Russian blades the other day and I finally tried one. Probably one of the best shaves I've had. I went further than normal with a 3 pass plus touch ups and have zero irritation and I'm smoother than I think I've ever been. This was also the first time using VDH as I was looking for a neutral soap that wouldn't fight my ASB. Which brings me to that, Victoria's Secret ASB? I actually like it quite a bit, me and my girlfriend were in the store the other day and one of the sales associates pulled me over into the smelly section. Apparently they just started making mens cologne and stuffs. The GF liked it and bought me a sample box with the ASB and an Axe type body mist can. I must admit it smells good and it didn't bother my skin at all. As far as performance I don't think it does much but it's not harsh like a splash and the scent is nice, if a little strong at first. Once it mellows out it's very light. I don't know if I'd buy it again but as far as receiving it as a gift I'm very pleased with it. I had to laugh a little as the lady was telling me how putting it on after a shave would make my face feel better. I just looked at her and said "I don't think you'd understand how much shaving stuff I own."

    Saturday!

Pre (yard work!!!, Eucerin, cool shower)
    Omega 10083 Pro boar
    L'Occitane Cade SS
Merkur 23c w/ Gillette Super Thin (Thai)
Post (STYPTIC  , Cetaphil, cold water rinse)
    Master Bay Rum

DFS+ by means of wtg, xtg, atg. Finishing up above lip and casually moved the razor over the other side. A little too casual!! "Moved" became dragged the razor (edge) over to the other size. #@$%!, *&&#<, %$*&#. :shocked003: Ouch. "Where's that stiptic?" Okay, all better now ... for the most part anyway. If the razor was a str8, I would have needed stitches.

I love the L'Occitane Cade SS, but this is the last chance on the scent. If it lingers too long, I simply won't be able to handle it anymore.

You are so right YMMV, especially on brush preferences!

I notice that my brushes can all work well in different situations: cream vs soap, loading from the container vs loading on face from a stick, lathering on face vs lathering in a bowl. It just takes a different technique in each case.

I find that I get my best results when I stick with a combination and use it regularly. I notice some of the regular posters on SOTD rarely vary their routine. There is certainly something to be said for that.

I really like that '2 razors rotation' - as they so different, each shave feels new. Looking forward to add a third razor to the rotation soon...

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Saturday August 25, 2012
    [IMG]
Prep: Brush soaking in ice water, face wash/scrub with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, cold shower
Razor: Merkur 1904 Open Comb mounted on an iKon Bulldog Handle
    Blade: Gillette India Wilkinson Sword
    Brush: Semogue 1438 Boar
    Cream: SuperMax Ultimate 3 Classic
    AS: Canoe
Post: Cold Water Rinse, Alum Rub, Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash Of Aftershave.

After waiting all day for the postman to arrive and then he shows up empty handed, I was disappointed that I would not be able to use new gear today.

I loaded one of the Indian made Gillette Wilkinson Sword into the 1904 head and figured I could do a nice mild three pass shave. This is a blade you keep seeing me use and raving about. It is inexpensive yet our performs many blades costing two to three times the dollar amount.

The SuperMax Ultimate 3 Classic is an inexpensive cream that performs exactly the way that it should, it is too bad that it is has stopped being produced. Building a great lather takes only about a minute. Your face feels so conditioned after your rinse that you would swear you had put a good quality lotion on your skin.

Three full passes, a small amount of j-hooks and buffing around my neck provided as close to a BBS that I can get from almost any razor/blade combination. Just an outstanding shave.
