SOTD: Vintage Sheffield 'Tally Ho' 8/8" chopper from Frederick Fenney (1840s) ; Crowne & Crane 'Thurningian Forest' tallow soap and matching aftershave balm, custom Jayaruh two-band badger brush. Fragrant 'woodsy' shave that was oh-so-smooth! Have a blessed Tuesday, gents!

WSP Formula T Ol’ Kentucky today. 20 seconds to load Doug Scharf/Whipped Dog Silvertip brush. Easy, thick, slick, lather. Vintage Schick Plus Platinum still in the Gillette Slim. Excellent smooth, close shave. I finished with Stirling Barbershop w/Menthol aftershave.

Your raves about the C3 persuaded me to land one. Should be in hand Thursday.

    Midweek on Wednesday:

    L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Rapira day 3
    Tcheon Fung Sing Sottozero SS
    Lubriderm Moisturizer
Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS Splash

This Gada Cool Mint cream will have to wait because it's been a LONG time since I've used the Sottozero soap. The Gada will get a spin this weekend, I promise. I enjoy the Sottozero's nice minty scent, it lathers very easily, and although its menthol effect is relatively mild it's still quite noticeable. I'll leave the rest of the setup as it is!

IMG_2079.JPG Today's learning came to me by way of my newly acquired Thater brush that I picked up at a deep discount price due to it shedding a hair here and there. The guy I bought it from hadn't used it in his rotation enough to determine if it was early minor shedding of a dense brush that will likely stop, or if it was possibly a "shedder". Only time will tell, but for $50, I figured it was worth giving it a shot to see what all the buzz was about with these high end knots. So far, my initial observations are that face feel is quite soft; halfway between my current silvertips and a plissoft. Also, lather was easier to make than with any of my other brushes. So far I'm very favorably impressed.
In other news, I have decided that Pharoah's Dreamsicle is absolutely, hands down my favorite Stirling soap. The scent description does it no justice whatsoever. I don't smell creamsicle at all (and I should know, I make them for a living). The blend of orange, vanilla, and egyptian musk is beautiful, slightly complex, and smells much more beautiful and sophisticated than its description.

    an "all-Stirling" Wednesday for me:

    prep-Dove 4 Men Bodywash("Extra Fresh Micro Moisture w/Cooling Agent)*
    shave-Stirling Soap(Wintergreen)
brush-WSP Pure Badger or Stirling "lil brudder"**
    razor-Gilette Sensor Deuce Pivot DisposeABLE
    A.S.-Stirling Sample(Lime)

*-we'll see if this "agent" is comfortably cool
**-just shampooed the Stoylin brush, hope it's dry enough for tomorrow, but the WSP is the backup

    Gillette Fatboy (G3) Razor
Super Max Super Stainless Blue Plus Blade
    Frank Shaving Boar Brush
Love My Skin Tobacco & Bay Leaf Soap
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Tabac After Shave

Decided to use a blade which I only used a couple of times in the past and pay attention to see how it really shaves. It performed great with two passes and some touch up for a really smooth and comfortable BBS shave. If a blade doesn't perform well in my Fatboy, it'll be one in which I most likely won't have in my Den.

    Williams Mug Shaving Soap
    Jayaruh #204 Horse
    Gillette Rocket
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWR
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Lucky Tiger

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #204 Horse Hair brush. I did the two passes with the Gillette Rocket with a Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... I cannot remember having a smoother shave with any razor. This Gillette Rocket was out of this world smooth.

Let's say if the Dove Body Wash is not so cooling you've got the Glacial Wintergreen soap to give you a BIG, BIG freeze.

Tonight's shave was with an absolute joy of a razor. Its one I restored a while back, and it just made its was back around, in the rotation. I had a very sharp, smooth, and noisy, 2 pass shave. Definite "Top Shelf Razor".

    Brush- Omega 10098 Boar
