    8/27/2015 Throwback Thursday!

Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Gillette Slim M3 (3), Ace straight razor
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (3)
    Brush: Black Badger
    Soap: Cella
After: Home made ASB, Nivea after shave balm
    Cologne: Midnight In Paris

It is Throwback Thursday! I used my first badger brush to whip the Cella into a nice and thick lather. My birth quarter Slim and my first real straight razor knocked down the stubble with ease. The Nivea ASB and the Midnight In Paris were a nice finish for my Throwback Thursday/Birthday 2 pass Darn Fine Shave.

    Have a blessed day!

image.jpg Razor: Vintage German Travel razor NDC Merkur like head
Brush: Van Der Hagen Badger reset to 24/48 and Cobalt Blue
    Soap: Cella classica 1899
    Blade: Feather
Post shave: T.N. Dickerson’s Witch Hazel, Jack Black Post Shave Gel, Old Spice original Shulton early 1960s Travel Type I AS Metal cap

This is my vacation setup. I also bring my Braun Electric for those days I have to move out of the bathroom quickly, which is most days. I still try to get a real shave in when I can. The old VDH Badger works great to face lather the Cella. The German Travel razor has a cool 2 piece handle that stows one piece inside the other. It shaves like my Merkur 34c so I can go fast but still get a nice 2 pass shave. I use my usual post shave stuff, especially with the Braun as it leaves my face rough. And I gotta have my Old Spice. This one was full when I got it, and packs well in my kit. So, I used it today after unpacking it from my suitcase. I'm alway in more of a rush packing for vacation than unpacking. Now to clean it up for the next one. Y'all have a good one!

Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
    Razor - Gillette Slim Adjustable
    Blade - Personna Lab Blue
    Brush - Omega 20106
Soap - Arko soap & cream / glycerine / menthol crystals
After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix
    Result - BBBS

I usually find, as I'm sure most of you do, that each shave has perhaps one element that stands out, be it the blade, lather or the result. Sometimes though, it can all come together perfectly. Well, everything about my shave this evening was sheer perfection, kicked off by having the humble abode to myself.
It's been quite a while since I've had a taste of the Antarctic chill in my lather, preferring the altogether more gentle, floral notes over the summer. The mental crystals were back with a bang though, biting all the more on the second pass, the stubble having provided some cushion previously. It was only the entrée though, the frozen towel providing the full blown blizzard.
Have no fear, suitable refuge was taken in the warmth of the 12 yr old Cardhu accompanying me.
There's always trepidation in using a blade that I've anticipated so highly, but I needn't have concerned myself with the Lab Blues. I always try a new blade in a Tech, just to get a feel for it, but it's been too long since I've had my first DE out. Set at five, it's given me easily its best shave to date. Felt sharper than a Silver Blue yet more comfortable than a Perma-Sharp. All this from a blade made in the good old US of A!
The result was Beyond BBS, feels like my beard has just vanished, nice one Personna!

All I have to say is holy cow what a great shave! the scent is not a run of the mill fougere, and it whipped up a thick lather in no time at all. This was a very nice shave all the way around. no irritation and no weepers. If only this would happen everytime, then I would be in heaven. Hope everyone has a great shave and a great day!!!
