    FRIDAY
My first shave using a newly-acquired J-West, a Takehana FEON model very similar to the razor loaned to me by Mike (@entropy1049 ). This one required some clean-up and polish, but took a very keen edge off the hones.
End result: a near-BBS experience. Such smooth shavers!
    Have a great Friday, all!

Friday, August 28, 2015 - First Shave with a Slant
    2 hot towels
    Cornhuskers Lotion
    Plisson Synthetic
    Arko (face-lathered)
    Merkur 39C..."The Sledgehammer"...w/Gillette 7 O'clock Blacks (1)
    W/X/A, touch ups
Cold rinse, cold towel, witch hazel, L'Oreal Balm, TSD AS Milk Irish Spring Type

After everything I've read about slants, I expected either a miraculous one-pass BBS, or to bleed out. What I got was a decently close shave with more nicks than usual, and irritation no worse than I've had before. I need to try this razor with many more blade and soap/cream combinations before I choose "yay" or "nay."

Great shave today. After reading many raves regarding Biotique Bio Palmyra shave cream I had to give it a try. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. Mine is a little on the runny side but assuming it will dry out a little and smells like apples. This was a easy and had same consistency as the Castle Forbes I used days ago but the part the really surprised me was the post shave feel. I falsely assumed that a big jar of cream this inexpensive would be lacking in the post shave feel but I was dead wrong. Now it could be that I still had some of my PSO on my face and help contribute to the post shave slickness but this shave cream is well worth the money.

    image.jpg Razor: Gillette 195 Fat Boy (f1) 1960 (5) (3)
Brush: Rubberset 400 #3 WD 24/50 Silvertip (Jedi Lightsaber)
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
Cream: Geo. F. Trumper's Coconut cream
    Blade: Feather (1)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black balm, Old Spice Lime original Shulton AS Frosted Glass 1960s
Whipped up some nice warm Trumper's Coconut after loading up my mug with a dollop. My new Jedi Lightsaber has nice backbone, and the handle fits the hand nicely. My FB, helped with the Feather blade, made quick work in 2 passes. A little touchup on my neck ATG on 3 and done. I actually had enough lather left over for 2 more passes. The WH felt good, nice and cool. After cleanup some JB and when it dried, some Vintage Old Spice Lime from the 1960s. A great Jedi shave! The Force Awakens!

I agree that Gingers Garden don't get mentioned around here as much as it should. They make great products and even do custom scents! I like the flip top containers, which is unique.

I look forward to your progress. I'm very much leaning towards getting a 39c or a Muhle r41 as my next razor.

I really like Biotique Bio Palmyra aka "the thing" I was surprised when I saw your SOTD as this cream doesn't get nearly enough love as many of the other big brand named.

Another very good 3 pass near BBS shave with the Slim. It's been sometime since I have used this Shavemac brush. I have really enjoyed using it over the last several days and will have to remember to use it more often. Finished off with a splash of Fine Platinum and I am so ready for the weekend.

You are one of the individuals I remember making a comment about this cream and agree this is a bargain cream and doesn't get much love on this site or the other two sites I am on. This one is a keeper for me.
