    August 28
    Razor - 1964 Gillette Slim (J1)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Brush - Vie Long 12601
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold water, Alum, The Veg

Changing to a super sharp blade today so a bit of change in protocol. Instead of starting the Slim on 5 I'm dialing down to 3. The Feather gave a fantastic shave at 3 so that will be the starting benchmark. The pony and Tabac for the lather and again, really really a nice result. I have definitely gotten my two favorite soaps nailed down...Tabac and MWF. The Vie Long 12601 and the Omega 10066 both seem to work equally well with each soap and my other brushes aren't that far behind. I notice the Arko and Proraso sit on the shelf a bit forlorn right now.

First pass with the Kai on 3 was extremely smooth. Very nice and very close for a first pass. No issues or concerns except to get the lather on for the XTG. Second pass just as smooth and I was DFS at the end of the pass. A few minor touch ups and I was rinsing, enjoying a nearly burn free alum splash and had the Veg on and out the door. Fantastic shave with this combination. Tomorrow I'm going to dial down to 2 just to see what happens.

I honestly haven't shaved in a few days. I was helping my mom move A few states away and then I started a job that didn't require shaving everyday. They just require trimmed and shaped facial hair if facial hair is worn. Its been rough trying to get ready for 3 kids birthday parties and keep up the house while working 7-3 everyday and having to bicycle the few miles to work because the cars have all broken down or are being borrowed by people with greater need. I will start fresh next month with a SE theme. Not really a focus since I have an injector, a gem, and a shavette that could all be considered SE. I'll start with the shavette to knock off the few days growth then whichever gets here first in the mail will be my first 2 weeks and the other will be the last 2 weeks with an occasional foray into the shavette on my days off work. I will also be regrowing some kind of facial hair so I'll have to practice trimming it and shaving around it with these new to me razors. I miss shaving but I have other things to do and it has been pushed back into the background for this last week of the month. I hope to be featuring my adventures in shaving on the first of the month since that will be my first day off the new job and I can catch up on sleep and shaving that day.

Midnight shave w/ the Schick Paul Revere.
Really tired and wanted something that would get me clean shaven with very little effort and risks of nicking myself and Mr Revere delivered brilliantly. Love this "little" razor.

I think I may have found a perfect
pairing. Milord razor and Wilkinson Sword blades. This is the fourth time I've used this pairing and each time I've had a comfortable close shave.
One downside today. I saw the bottom of the I Coloniali pot today. I'm running out of my favourite soap. Guess I best get a refill puck soon.

    Razor - Milord
    Blade - Wilkinson Sword
Lather - I Coloniali shaving soap
    Brush - Pilsson synthetic
Aftershave - Nivea moisterising aftershave balm
    Have a nice weekend gents.

Another great shave with Krampert's Finest. This time I used Bay Rum soap and aftershave and wound up with a drama free close smooth shave. I went back to an 8-8-6 progression with the Fatboy and Personna. This combo works well, but I still like Voskhod better in this razor. The aftershave leaves my face smooth but not over moisturized. This is my favorite bay rum - less clove than others as not as much burn.

    Brush: HIS

I did it again - this shave was simply awesome. The Frozen Tundra soap lathered so rich and slick with a HUGE menthol freeze and great post-shave care. The Glacial Obsidian balm and the Rubby Dubby Doo socked to me with their own special freezing power!

    Saturday 29.08.2015.

I used almost the same setup for my saturday morning shave as I did for my shave before that. I only replaced the scent of the soap used and the razor. The idea behind this was to test the blade in another razor, while keeping the same environment as last time. It was apparent that the Viking Sword blade performed better in a slightly more aggressive razor. It felt slightly sharper, just as smooth and more effective. It is still not up to Polsilver standard, but good enough to give it the benefit of the doubt and let it keep the Viking name :)

The Frank Shaving Chubby Badger brushed I used for these two shaves has had a reputation for being a lather hogging brush, but it occurred to me that I have only used it for bowl lathering. Therefore I tried face lathering with it and found it to be perfect for this purpose.

    Razor: Merkur 34c
    Blade: Viking Sword
    Brush: Frank Shaving Chubby Badger
    Soap: Fitjarsoap Slåtterøy / Lighthouse
Aftershave Lotion: Fitjarsoap Slåtterøy / Lighthouse
Aftershave Balm: Fitjarsoap Slåtterøy / Lighthouse

    Gillette Slim G3 (9)
    Feather blade (3)
    Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
    Trumper's Coconut cream and glycerin
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

I enjoyed a great shave with the Slim set on 9 this morning, and this concludes my Adjustable August focus. Tomorrow, I plan to begin my SEptember focus with my Mongoose.

This was my first time using a Slim. It came from an estate sale in Sandusky, Ohio. I ran it through its range of aggressiveness settings by shaving a week each on 3, 5, 7, and 9 in order to find the best setting and to compare it to my FB. It was also my first time using the EJ Synthetic brush, and I wanted to optimize its performance as well. I used the same basic kit all month; however, I went minimalist during a two-week trip with my Bride.

I promptly earned a CT by stating a fact: "I like the Slim on 3, but then again, Danger is my middle name." I learned that it's better not to state facts and stick with shenanigans only. Most of you have mastered this skill. To top it off, I was set up by my friends here while I slept peacefully overnight. I've learned to sleep with one eye open. :p

I found the Slim handle to be more grippy and a bit easier to maneuver in tight spots compared to my FB. Overall, the shaves between the two razors are similar. I give the "edge" to the Slim, as it appears to shave more aggressively at the higher settings than the FB. This could simply be due to the fact that it is more maneuverable, which invited me to chase a closer shave. The Slim on 3 compares to my Muhle R89. A setting of 7 provides the best overall shaves with the least amount of effort (automatic?). When I kick it up to 9, I have to be very careful to keep from getting weepers and irritaition. If I take my time and use laser focus, I prefer to shave with the Slim on 9.

I learned this month that my shaves are better and more relaxing if I shut off the running water and listen to the blade cutting the whiskers. This allows me to get a cleaner shave right under my nose, as I can almost tell by hearing when all the whiskers are gone.

I also dialed in the synthetic brush by following Clint's good advice. Essentially, I learned to add water slowly to the knot and build the lather slowly. The synthetic brush requires more patience (and then some) to use compared to my boar and badger brushes; however, it is a fantastic travel brush because it dries so quickly.

I also learned not to go too mimimalist while traveling. I could have used a pre-shave soap and an after shave product in my kit. I plan to return to Alaska sometime with a better shaving kit to see if I can learn from my mistake.

    Have a great weekend!

See above post. I did the same thing today. I have to go for lab work so I didn't take time to post all that was done. Going to try to get back in the swing of things starting tomorrow (Sunday, aka rotation)
Have a great day guys. It's hotter than Blue Blazes here, the Humidity sucks. If I wanted it like this I'd move back to Florida.:angry019:
