Brush: Jerusalem Olive Wood/WD Silvertip 24/48
Mug: Old Spice (early glass Mug 06) 1961 - 1964 First Mug with a taper last without a lip on top
    Cream: TOBS Coconut cream
    Blade: Feather (1)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Post Shave Gel, Old Spice original Shulton 1983 -Porcelain Sail Boat
The Feather blade locked in and off we go to another great shave. Whipped up some great lather with the TOBS Coconut and the Silvertip. I let the weight of the razor do all the work, for a nice 2 pass shave. I very rarely nick myself or even get a weeper, but with this razor I seem to be able to go with almost reckless abandon, with no ill effects. Another great shave, Finished with the WH, and then some soothing JB. After cleanup some vintage Old Spice from 1983. Gotta love the Spice Ship! Sailing away on a nice Sunday....

Well the end of the month has arrived. This is my 30th shave for the month so ending the focus on the Feather. Tomorrow will be a "free shave" and my next focus begins on Tuesday the 1st. Closing out on the BoSFat combo too. I almost want to just spend the day making lather with these two. Such a great pair and I love the scent of the Fat. That light soapy scent just says "clean" and SWMBO likes it too. Makes the shave extra special.

Went two passes with the Feather. First pass is just an automatic process now WTG. I have the Japanese style down, using only my right hand and turning to use the same edge of the razor. Feels very natural and, in fact, if I try a left hand pass on the left side it turns all kinds of awkward. XTG is still a bit weak but I can manage it so I will just keep at it on the days I use the Feather until it's automatic as well. Did a third pass with my '59 Super Speed and a Bic. Mostly touch up of the neck. Nothing major. Best news...no cuts, nicks, wounds, bleeding arteries or any other life-threatening injuries. A great way to end the month. Another thanks to @Keithmax for the CJB that started me down this path. It's been a great experience and will only get better I'm sure!

    SOAP COMMANDER SUNDAY

    RAZOR: GILLETTE TECH
    BLADE: PERMA-SHARP
    BRUSH: AOS BADGER
    SOAP: SOAP COMMANDER COURAGE
POST: OSAGE RUB/ SC RESOLUTION BALM

Decided to do a quick 3 pass shave today. Had some thick stubble on the mustache area and wanted to get cleaned up for tomorrow morning. I love the scent of both the soap and the balm. The balm reminds me more of winter/fall, and the soap has a nice cologne type scent. Both perform very well and last a very long time. I always seem to over shoot on the balm. Only a tiny dot, like a half of a pea sized amount is all that is needed. Very concentrated stuff. Hope everyone had a great shave!!

    Sunday 30.08.2015

Following the excellent suggestion of Mr. Douglas Carey I picked out my box of TSD Wheat Shaving Cream. And while at it I also picked up the Merkur Futur razor. Sometimes today I had apparently decided to give the Viking Sword blade another shot, so the Futur seemed like the most interesting option.
It has been a while since both the cream and the razor saw any action so it was about time I chose these for my partners in shave.
The cream lathered up nicely and the aroma of TSD's signature scent filled the bathroom quite nicely. The combination of Bay Rum and citrus is to me a very good combination and everything was set for an enjoyable shave.

Unfortunately this proved to not be the case. The Viking Sword did not shine in this razor and the shave was lacking in both sharpness and smoothness. To top it of the glide was subpar and proved to be difficult to utilize in the more tricky areas of my face. I even managed to cut myself on the chin.
I did two passes and ended up with I would call a CCS. Not something to complain about, but nothing to write about either...

    Razor: Merkur Futur
    Blade: Viking Sword (3)
    Brush: Merkur Futur
Cream: The Shave Den Wheat Shaving Cream
Aftershave: The Shave Den Aftershave Milk

Batch 2 Mongoose with Dr. Bomber handle
    Feather Professional blade (1)
    Shavemac two-band silvertip brush
    Trumper's Coconut cream and glycerin
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

I got a jumpstart on my SEptember focus with the Mongoose today. I first noticed the weight of the razor compared to my Gillette adjustables. The workmanship is top notch as well. The Shavemac brush generated a quick and protective lather compared to my EJ Synthetic. Overall, it was a fantastic DFS+ shave in two passes. It's easy to see why so many people like the Goose. It looks like a beast, provides a great shave, and is very forgiving. I hope to dial in my technique for a consistently close and comfortable two-pass shave using different brushes, soaps, and creams.

    Have a great week!

What setting did you have the Futur on? I hear that they get aggressive past 3.

    Razor: Gillette Slim (1965)(7)
    Blade: Gillette Platinum (7)
Brush: Whipped Dog Silver Tip Badger, Olivewood Handle (24/67)
    Soap: The Shave Den Coconut
    A/S: The Shave Den Coconut

Adjustable August: The three razors I used this month are, Gillette Executive Gold Fat Boy (F1- 1960), Gillette Adjustable Fat Boy (G3-1961), and Gillette Slim (Adjustable (K4-1965). I used the Gillette Platinum Blade throughout August. I found that for me #7 setting was the best for all three razors. I liked the Gillette FB best followed by the Gillette Executive, and Gillette Slim. The main different for me was the feel of the handle. The FB's just felt better in my handle and I suppose made me more confident in my shaves. TSD Coconut is an excellent shaving soap and the container is one of the few that leaves enough room from the top of the soap to the top of the container to allow you to whip up a great lathe without having it all over the counter top. I also dabbled a bit with shave creams and learned that I like them also.:) I hope to have some new Shave Den Soaps and A/S for next Sunday.:happy088::happy088:
