    Proraso Green Tea & Oat
    Brut A/S

Recently forgot how bloody flawlessly broken in my Semogue was - I'm thinking about a 610 right now to get as a face lathering/travel brush. Heck if it breaks in well I may get rid of my beloved Badgers! Guess I should get an inventory done soon and get rid of some stuff so my wife doesn't chase me around the house with my bayonet.

In keeping with the cheap and efficient themes lately I chose to smoosh the remainder of my Arko stick into this mug I found at the Goodwill today. These little Pfaltzgraff mugs are perfect for loading hard soaps. They have a little recess in the bottom that holds the puck, and they are wide mouthed so you don't bang the brush too much. There was a whole set there but I just bought two.

The Arko just freakin exploded with lather on this knot, it was crazy. With my hard water to see lather just grow like that was..unusual. I always before had loaded the soap from the stick to my face. I got good results, but nothing like this. I love Arko, I love the scent and the efficacy.

    Friday morning shave

Got this in the mail yesterday
    IMG_0165.jpg
So I had to use some of these products today

Proraso Blue face lathered with TGN 22 Super Silvertip
    EJ89dl with Wilkinson Sword (2)
3 passes, polishing and finish with the Proraso aftershave

Excellent shave. The Proraso Blue is a great cream, but I love all the Proraso creams and face lathering with them is a pure pleasure.

I don't know how much smoother this shave could have gotten because I'm so BBS. This Ice Mint soap which Irena created is to die for if you're a menthol lover like I am. I really love the Gillette balsam and the Floid Classic aftershave also. My face feels like it was born again, and I'm already anxious to have another great shave tomorrow. ;) :D

Have a great weekend, folks! :)

Shave of the Day, Friday August 30, 2013
Prep: Brush soaked in ice water, tepid shower
    Razor: iKon Slant
    Blade: Persona Medical Prep
Brush: Vintage Stanley re-knotted with TGN High Density Finest Two-Band Badger Fan
Soap: Palmolive Classic Stick turned into a croap
    AS: Pinaud Clubman
Post: Cold Water Rinse, bath of aftershave
    [IMG]
Decided to try another blade today although I am sure the Feather had a few shaves left. For my face the Personna just felt better. Of course being a medical prep blade it is extremely sharp, but for me I just find they much smoother than Feathers.

I cannot express how much I love the performance of the iKon Slant. Although the top cap post being too small to hold the blade into place just plain out bothers me, I will put up with fiddling for a minute to get the blade aligned for a shave this good.

There are many high end DE's on the market, but I have yet to find one that shaves this well. Based on this razor and the reviews of others I trust the most, in particular Todd, I will be adding the iKon Standard Bar and Open Comb much sooner than later. For me it is a done deal to add the new Shave Craft Razor once it becomes available.

Enjoy your Friday everyone. For those in the US that have a three day weekend, enjoy your time off with the ones you love.

    Friday:

Prep: Hot shower, AoS Unscented PSO
    Brush: Beeline Boar
    Soap: VDH Unscented
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (6)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: Cold water splash, Alum, cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
Cologne: The Third Man by Caron

Six days in, and the Bic finally showed enough wear and tear for me to decide to swap blades for tomorrow, though it took blade buffing on the 3rd pass for the weepers to come. Other than the weepers, the shave was irritation free and baby smooth. On to the Trig tomorrow.

My shave of the day posts have been fairly homogeneous using the same software for the last few months. Now that the razors have been sold, they will all be the same. Not leaving, but when using the same kit every day, I don't see the sense in posting a shave of the day when it is always the same.

    Conclusion Day 2:
Really more of the same here today. It is really hard to pick out any individual scents in this pleasurable mixture. The individual scents themselves blend so well into a harmonious whole that the shaver is left more with the impressions of their sum total rather than individual top or base notes. As stated before it is a classic no matter what era you are from. It is a very pleasant, complex, masculine scent. I believe that this scent would be enjoyed by those who visited the classic barber shops 50-80 years ago or a young (relatively) guy of 35 like me, or even the college students I serve in ministry. At first I was baffled by the potency mike spoke of in his description, because to me, this doesn't have that in your face punch. I certainly wouldn't describe the strength as overpowering or distracting. I believe the potency comes in its ability to l-i-n-g-e-r on the face long after the morning shave is over. As a side-note, I can now procure the same lather from the sample in the OS mug as from the tin, just takes a little longer loading time. Another soap I will be sad to see come to an end, but I obtained a new stick of this from our own Ryan Bales that will allow me to continue the adventures with this great soap! Have a blessed day all!
