Friday, August 31, 2012, Shaving Ritual

Razor: 68 Slim Gillette Adjustable (N4) (set on 9)
Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated (1st use)
    Brush: Semogue TSN LE 2012
    Bowl: Union University Cappuccino Mug
Cream or Soap: Mama Bears Beau Brummel
A/S: Alum & Cold Water Rinse

The 2012 Semogue TSN LE brush developed a wonderfully thick and slick lather today. Debuting today is a new shaving mug and blade. The Union University mug, Union is where my son is attending college and a Voskhod blade. Between my favorite razor, amazing brush, slick lather, and new blade I obtained a 3-pass BBS shave today.

We have some programs that allow the user to generate distortion and other effects to the photos we take (like Photoshop and others).

Today was very, very quick and basic. Almost minimalist.

    Red-pack IP in '64 SuperSpeed Flair-tip
Barbasol (yellow can, with lanolin) - quick 'n easy
    Three passes - wtg/xtg/atg
Splash of Pinaud Clubman and out the door. :happy088:

Hey Jeff, my wife is the opposite, she loves the scent of it and also loves to use it herself. It really is a great performer, makes such a nice lather with no effort, and offers so much more menthol than the Bigelow/Proraso.

I am really enjoying trying out the lesser known brands of cream, I can thank you for recommending this one, as I may never had without your recommendation.

It was my pleasure to recommend it. :) My wife says it smells too "old" for me. She doesn't realize that I love that kind of a scent from a cream or soap. She also says when she smells it even when she stands near the bathroom when I'm shaving, that I smell like an old barber! You're right about how easy it is to lather it up, and I agree also with you that it's much more mentholated than Proraso - in fact it can make the newest Proraso Green cream feel warm. When I was shaving this morning I was shocked at how frigid it was. The 1st pass was freezing, the 2nd pass was like holding an ice pack to my face. Yeah, definitely Lea Menthol competes with Palmolive or Godrej, and it kicks Ingram's butt as well!

Jeff, you should remind her that it would be a MATURE barber! Not old, but MATURE! ;)

DFS+ by means of wtg, xtg, atg. How long can this blade last? Been a full week! Now I know ... pulled off 3 passes, but this blade is done ... some minor irritation.

For those in the U.S., enjoy your holiday!

Kind of a rough shave. This was my first time with a Rapira and I'm not impressed. I had a bit of tugging and quite a few weepers, my alum felt it was dipped in fire. I'll give it one more chance or I'm moving on. On the plus side my GF got me the Grafton stuff for our anniversary and I absolutely love it, of course I told her exactly what to get me but I count it as a win either way.

Again, the Super Speed cleaned me up so well with the help of the Rapira blade which is on its last day. Tomorrow, it'll be my Dovo Bismarck if I have enough time, which I believe I will. The Gada Cool Mint cream is my main trading item - everyone who I sent it to loves it, and believe me, there's everything to love about it. The scent is nice, the lather is a pleasure to work with, and it can freeze your face off. The Svoboda balsam is not only very cooling, it's also very moisturizing and healing. Today, I not only splashed the Osage Rub on my face and neck, I even gave my head a little massage with it - brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! ;) :D

I've got that Arko dialed in...or should I say reined in? I've backed off the amount I'm using because you sure don't need much. I love this stuff! I'd love it more with a better scent, but I'm ok with it as is.

Thus ends 3 days of Arko. Next on my quest to finally use all my soaps & creams (I have about 20 that I've never used to shave with) is RR Zi' Peppino
