    ram57 Don't Open til Christmas

Greeted this morning to a 2 pass near, BBS shave with the Rocnel SE50 that arrived in my hands yesterday. Will say right up front this will not be for everyone. Top heavy, more so than the PILS 101 series, and some will not like having to unscrew the handle to loosen the setscrew which loosen the slider cap, but for me this are non issues due to the result of the shave. The angle was easy to find and I let the weight of the head do all the work. Instant audio feedback which I didn't expect from this heavy SS razor and in the back of my mind I thought this one might bite me but my concerns were unwarranted. Not as smooth and forgiving as The General as I think this one can produce weepers if you are not careful, but nowhere as close of a concern that I have with the Cobra series. Overall a near BBS 2 pass no touch up, irritation free shave. The only knock that I have with the razor I received is that the polished finish has two areas that could have been buffed out better as you can in the picture just above their namesake and bottom left just below the last line. If I had the equipment I could probably buff it out but I don't and not a big issue as it does not effect the shave at all. They do have a matte finish so that maybe the better option for some. Other issue, again cosmetic issue is that I think a clean finish across the top cap would be better option and if they still want their namesake on the razor head, but put it on underside of the baseplate.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend everyone.

I also hope they start selling them. There seems to be enough buzz around it to have enough demand.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20160904_131550.jpg

    Prep: Musgo Real orange amber
    Razor: Maggard Slant
    Blade: Gillette Green (2nd shave)
    Brush: Fine Angel Hair Synthetc
    Soap: Gustafsons Blue Bayou
    Post: Vanilla Clubman (iced)

2 pass shave this morning. Second day with the Gustafsons soap, got a great lather yesterday and wanted to try again and got the same results. The scent is a mix of cedarwood and lavender but is a nice woodsy scent. My hats off to Gustafsons for changing their recipe and making it 100x better. No problems with lather stability at all. Got a very nice shave, the Maggard Slant reminds me of the Icon X3 in that it is mild but shaves perfectly. I did get a small nick from using too much pressure, but it is a gentle razor, ended with no irritation. Finished off with Vanilla Clubman iced with a ton of menthol crystals for a icy post shave. Hope everyone has a great shave!

I`m not all that crazy about the plastic body. Seems to want to slip back with a little extra pressure. Where I live, I have buy on line, in bulk, so I bought 100 (5x20) blades from Ted Pella, about 24 cents per blade. I think I only have about 30 blade left. The quality is about in the middle. I get 5 pretty good shaves ,depending on the razor. About what do the chicks cost? So many people have commented on their sharpness, I need to test them against the Pellas. Thanks for the info, regards.

Yes, it's not cheap and if we take into account that I paid the fee, it's almost like Wolfman ))).
As far as I understand, Penhaligon's Hammam Bouquet aftershave splash and balm no longer available, discontinued.

    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Razor: GEM Featherweight
    Brush: Trader Joe's synthetic
    Lather: Arko
Post: Witch hazel splash, Pinaud Citrus Musk, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Nice shave with a travel set-up. I'm on the Gulf Coast for a short vacation and brought these as a trial for travel ideas. The Arko stick in an old deodorant container is easily packed in the dopp bag and works so well. I used the very inexpensive Trader Joe's synthetic brush, brought a small sample of Pinaud Citrus Musk and the GEM Featherweight.

Nice shave overall. I'm pretty smooth after the usual one pass with touch-up. Arko worked up nicely and provided bountiful lather as usual. It's really a good soap despite the bad press for its scent. I should use Arko more often.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

The Schicks cost me more than what you are paying for the TP. I think I bought them from Amazon. Let me know how they compare.

I traded somebody for it. It's been a while and I don't remember for what.
According to their Facebook page MLS just moved and will be starting production again on September 7th. It should become available again.

    Aftershave: Afta Skin Conditioner

A little about the Mopane handle.
Colophospermum mopane, commonly called mopane, mophane, mopani, balsam tree, butterfly tree, and turpentine tree. It is a tree that grows in hot, dry, low-lying areas, 200 to 1,150 metres (600 to 3,770ft) in elevation, in the northern parts of South Africa. The tree only occurs in Africa and is the only species in genus Colophospermum. It's distinctive butterfly-shaped leaf and thin seed pod make it easy to identify.
A very good shave tonight. Need to work on around the nose hole openings, but other than that a DFS.
