Thanks very much Mark. The two knots are definitely different. I would say that the Manchurian holds the lather deeper in the knot. Whereas the 2 band release the lather more efficiently. The difference is slight, but I believe there's a difference. How would you describe the difference if you feel there is one?

Thanks ! It's a German OC, the handle is big and hollow so you can put a battery in that fuels the lightbulb... Unfortunately this size of battery is not made anmore, so I can't try it :'(

Grand Blade Trial - Day Off

Razor - Schick Type E Injector
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum, Stetson

Well it's Sunday, my day off from the Trials and it's SEptember....so I need to take the opportunity to jump in with one of mine. I grabbed the Type E Injector and loaded a fresh Schick blade (China) and decided to enjoy the Fat. Now, there's been a bit of fun with the Fat lately about its reputation as being a tough latherer. I followed some excellent advice when I first started with it. Soak the puck, use a stiff brush, shake the brush dry after soaking it and load it upside down. Then, face lather. I have found one added detail that absolutely makes this a first rate soap. Use a Semogue 620. Holy cow, ladies and gentlemen, it was making lather even while still upside down to load. I had enough in that stiff little brush to go three passes and probably do the laundry, dishes and one time over washing the car.

It's been over a year since I used an injector and I had forgotten how they handled. Didn't take long to get it under control. The blades are thick and stiff and sharp. First pass was very effective and also quite smooth. In fact all three passes were as long as I kept the angle shallow. I even managed some Schick Slide action on the third pass and finished with a very nice BBS baby! Now,the tradeoff? Boy did that alum light up. Yeah, even though I tried to keep the pressure off I was reminded how these razors work. Great shaves but they demand a bit of respect just due to style.

Finished up with Stetson and out the door I went. Hope your Sunday was great and here's to a great Labor Day tomorrow - and twelve hours of selling my butt off!
