Thursday 1:30am Gold Dollar 208 Home made Boar and Walnut brush Palmolive soap, grated into a ramekin Alum Home made Herby Rum Aftershave A thrifty shave this morning! A mix of home made and cheap products. The GD received a slight sweetening of the edge on a home made balsa crox strop before stropping on my home made denim hanging and home made paddle strops. The result was great and quite satisfying! Now all I have to do is build a forge and soap factory and it could be a 100% Jeltz made shave!
Mon/Power Outage Shave: Gillette Long Tooth OC New Wilkinson Sword (1) Omega Boar AOS Lavender PreShave Oil Proraso Unscented Nivea Post Shave Balm Man can that Red & Black special take down that 2 day stubble like nothing else. I use it rarely but when I do dig it out it always impresses me. It's my only open comb DE so I don't know if it's that or something else but it does great with a little more growth. 4/5 Wed. Power's back shave: Gillette Super adjustable @ 5 & 9 Voskhod (4) Edwin Jagger Best Badger AOS Lavender PreShave Oil Truefitt & Hill Lavender Shave Cream Trumper's Skin Food The EJ brush just came in today and it was a pleasure to use. I was initially surprise at how much less densely packed it is than my TGN Silvertip, which gives it much less backbone. However the lack of backbone (not that it's overly floppy or anything, if anything my silvertip's a bit of a beast it's got a ton of hair packed in there) made it extremely soft and pleasant to use. It whipped the T&H right up into a thick voluptuous lather. I only did a few passes but I actually lathered on an extra pass and let it sit there, just because the brush felt great going on my face. 4/5
Shave Of The Day ~ Monday, August 29th TSD Iced SubZero PreShave Balm ~ Hot Shower E.J. Badger Brush Tet-a-tet Shave Cream ~ Lord L6 Razor Voskhod Blade Thayers Witch Hazel/Osage Rub Blend Tet-a-tet Aftershave Balm ~ This was supposed to have been my Menthol Monday shave, but I was robbed! I was in need of the sample container the Tet-a-tet Shave Cream was in, so I decided to use the rest of the cream, having forgotten just how little menthol effect the Tet-a-tet has. While I know that Tet-a-tet is hugely popular around TSD, it just doesn't float my boat. I find the scent is nothing special, the menthol is minimal at best, and while the lather is decent it isn't any better than some of the more readily available creams that I have used. IMHO I find Proraso green or C.O. Bigelow to be a better cream. ========================================== Shave Of The Day ~ August 31st Hot Shower Music: Pandora ~ Heart Radio Vie-Long Zurito Horse Hair Brush TSD L.R Soap ~ Iced Sweet Tea ~ Lord L6 Razor Voskhod Blade Thayers Witch Hazel/Osage Rub Blend Aqua Velva Original Sport ~ The talk around here earlier about JoAnna's Iced Watermelon Sorbet helped me decide to use that soap for tonight's shave, but the Iced Sweet Tea was stacked on top of it, so I used the Tea scented soap instead with great results.

Happy Thursday From Florida! Hot Shower RAB Scuttle II Chubbz I Irisch Moos Muhle R-41 7'OC Blue - Thanks Dale! Cold Water Rag A.V. Sport - Thanks Regan! 3 Passes = 5 Blade, Off The Hook, Bang A Gong, Inter-Galactic BBS! In order to return to my DFS days, I am going to need to drop down a pass and only go for 2 passes I think. The Aqua Velva Sport compliments the Irisch Moos very nicely, they are very close to each other in scent. Have a great day Ya'll!
Thursday, September 01, 2011 Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Razor: Jaggerooney Blade: Voskhod Teflon Brush: EJ Best Badger Soap or Cream: Palmolive Italian Menthol Cream A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Alt Innsbruck Splash The weather is warming up again, so I thought some menthol was in order. What a nice, refreshing shave! The Voskhod really mowed 'em down with ease. And the Alt Innsbruck provided an excellent finish, with its own additional menthol chill and pleasant fragrance.
Thursday 1 Sep Starbucks, Italian Roast, Black Gillette New, W/ Astra SP (D2) TSD Monkey Farts stick (the end) Omega Boar, 10015, face lather Alcoloda Glacial-Proraso ASB A quick two pass shave, SAS. Trying to let my face heal up from the train wreck on tuesday. That is the end of my TSD monkey farts soap sample, I loved the soap, but the sent was not for me. It wasn't bad or anything, just not what floats my boat. I have a sample of blue juniper, and one other (i forget) so I will put that into stick form today. Have a great day
Thursday: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/Personna day 2 Everest SC Everest EDC/AS Balsam Bulgari Blu Notte EDT Although I get very good shaves with the Personnas, I still prefer the Rapiras because they are much more comfortable and smooth. The Everest cream gives a good cooling sensation on the 2nd and 3rd pass, and the matching eau de cologne/aftershave balsam feels very cooling on contact.
Thursday: EJ89L Lord Platinum Thater Stout 2 Maca Root SC Dickenson's Witch Hazel Bump Patrol Nivea Sensitive Balm Been quite awhile since I've lathered up the Maca Root, how nice it was. I must remember to use it more often. I've always thought the Lord Platinum blades were a friend of mine, but last week using a Voskhod everything went swimmingly, this week the Lord has caused 3 bumps and some minor irritation around the Adam's Apple region. Going to use the Bump Fighter razor for a couple of days to clear up and try the Voskhod again to see if it wasn't a fluke, but something is telling me Voskhod will probably become my only blade for DE shaving.
