    SOTD August 5 - Straight Razor-a-thon

    Vacation shave

Prep: hot shower, Proraso white preshave
Razor: G. Wostenholm and Son CANUCK
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Margaritas in the Arctic
    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)
    Post: Dove men hydrate+

Much better lather from the MITA today, it would seem that my brush was to dry yesterday. It wasn't as cooling though. I'm a little torn as to which lather I prefer more, today's or yesterday's...

I got carried away stropping this morning and did a few more laps then I planed. It did seem to help with the skipping I had previously. This made for a much nicer and smother shave. Minus a cut on my chin, a great DFS shave this morning.

    Tuesday
    Back to Work!
Another day using the IK shave cream and I have been really impressed with this product. 'Just a dab' of it yields substantial amounts of shea butter-based lather. Good stuff!
A smooth 3-pass shave with the Beau, a razor that has assured itself a firm place in my morning rotation by providing me with some of the smoothest shaves I have ever had.

    Have a blessed Tuesday, everyone!

    A surprising shave
Today was the first time I used my SC101 since I got my New long comb. I expected a smooth, easy shave from my razor of choice for months. I used the same setup from yesterday, so the only variable was the razor. I got a great shave, just not as close and smooth as I get with my New. I am curious to see how long this shave lasts... I get almost twelve hours of smoothness with the New. I am impressed. I never expected to find a razor I like more than my SC101.

    Prep: RR/HTGAM lime menthol
    Soap: Tabac!
    Brush: Rubberset 400
    Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101
    Blade: Personna lab blue (1)

Prep: Hot shower with L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash
Razor: Gem Micromatic OC, French fau frame back straight razor
Blade: GEM PTFE coated SE blade (7)
    Brush: Turkish #6
    Soap: Cella
After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva Musk
Cologne: Prada - Amber Pour Homme Intense

A comfortable Darn Fine Shave. The Cella has a great Almond/Cherry scent and protects well. The AV musk and the Prada - Amber Pour Homme Intense match up pretty well together to keep me smelling great all day.

    Have a blessed day!

    Tyr's Day:

Prep: Hot compress, Healthy Accents Daily Renewal facial cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Grapefruit Mint
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo
    Blade: Perma-Sharp Super (1)
    Passes: WTG (1)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS splash
    Cologne: Burberry Brit by Burberry

Because I did a 3-pass shave yesterday - and because my technique has improved since I stared DE shaving - I didn't need to shave today, but I decided I wanted to. With a fresh blade loaded into my FaTip, I did a reasonably quick, 1-pass, SAS. The Perma-Sharp was almost as smooth, and just as quiet, in the FaTip as it was in the 41c, and no nicks, weepers, or irritation surfaced, though the Clubman brought a bit more 'heat' to my face than I expected.

The Oscar11 brush with its Omega boar knot did a great job face lathering the TSD soap. Pleasant, comfortable shave.

    Feather (6)

Muhle Sea Buckthorn soap in a warm mug

Just an okay shave today. I've tried this razor enough times now to know that it's a nice piece for the collection but doesn't have the right angle for my face so it's time to remove it from the rotation.

Jeff is correct about both the menthol tingle and the smell. However with Jeff being twice my age he can get away with the smell, I however cannot.
