    Wash with unscented glycerin soap
    Lather TSD unscented wheat cream
Mühle hjm black fiber synthetic brush
    Gillette fat handled Tech
    Feather blade
    CeraVe lotion

Excellent smooth shave! It's been a long time since I used a Feather blade. Last time was not pleasant, but that was certainly due to poor technique on my part. So I was a little apprehensive and careful this morning. Shave was comfortable and close, three passes with touch up.

    FRIDAY!
    Break-Out-The-Slant Day!

    a. Pre: Hot shower, Lucky Tiger Lemon wash, Homemade PSO
    b. Razor: Merkur 39c HD Slant Bar
    c. Blade: Merkur Super (Day 5) hand-strop
    d. Brush: Omega 48 boar
    e. Soap: L'Occitane Cade, Mem Olive cream & liquid Glycerinscuttle-warmed
    f. Shave: 3 passes and touch-up
    g. Post: Cold water rinse & dry; Ogallala Bay Rum & Homemade Shea Butter balm

This was DAY 5 with the Merkur blade—which has been beyond the life I use most blades due to the tugging or rougher shaves that begin to happen.
I have discovered that using the slant bar razor really reveals evidence of a 'dulling' blade. However this morning, I had another gloriously smooth, comfortable shave with no indication of blade wear or deterioration. Could it be the hand-stropping I do each time? We'll carry on tomorrow with DAY 6 using the same Merkur blade. Near BBS shave today!

I was going to ask about the hand stropping. Me, I believe it works to smooth the blade and give it a couple extra shaves.

Hey...It's amazing...I got the SOTD post up before noon! Must be finally starting to feel a little better. Decided to swirl this brush in the TOBS this morning instead of scooping some out - bad idea!!! I think I had enough lather to shave a horse! Oh well...Results were nothing short of stellar - darn near BBS! Have a great day all!

    Well, I'm becoming a stropping convert! ;)
In all fairness, however, this hasn't been a controlled experiment as this is also the first time I've used the Merkur blade. But I've never gone beyond 4 days on any blade without some noticeable deterioration. The next test: I use my old reliable Astras & hand-strop identical to the Merkur & see how the comparison goes. 4-days has been the max for the Astras.

You guys got me doing this too! Now, its just habit...I think it may help keep its clean cutting edge and possibly give you an extra shave? Who knows...I haven't truly tested it correctly.

    Friday's shave.

Prep: hot shower, TBS Maca Root Face Wash, Alba Botanical Scrub.
    Brush: Vulfux Burlington.
    Razor: Shake Sharp.
Blade: Gillette Super Blue (carbon steel).
    Soap: Tabac.
Post: cold water rinse, Thayer's Lavender WH, Captain's Choice Lime.

Today's shave was pretty awesome. The Shake Sharp is a dime. It's probably the best razor I've used to date. I'm definitely going to look for one of these for myself. The Tabac soap is something everyone should try. It's so easy to lather up and has great skincare. I can't use it everyday, because it tends to irritate my skin if I do. Captain's Choice Lime is also awesome. I had some burning on my neck, but it's all healed up now. The Lime did a great job at tightening my skin.

I love the black handle super speed, but I do have a flare tip super speed waiting for some action, so I pulled the Merkur blade out and popped it into my flare tip for today. I also decided to be simple today, some RazoRock Napoleon's Violet and my AoS Fine badger brush with no superlather, preshave, or after shave.

A typical three pass wtg/xtg/atg followed by a cold water rinse. The Merkur Super is starting to tug a little but it's still serviceable. I managed a DFS with just a little irritation. The older flare tip is not as spiffy as the newer black handle, but it's still a good razor. I think that the Merkur blade will last five shaves, but it may be a little rough at the end.

Pre: Hot shower and warm water splash
Razor: Gillette flare tip Super Speed
    Blade: Merkur Super
    Brush: AoS Fine Badger
    Soap: RazoRock Napoleon's Violet
    Post: Cold water rinse

I felt like doing something different today, so I'm using some Every Man Jack Sensitive cream. It's a brushless cream that I usually use as a preshave, but it works well on its own as well. I feel like I need an ultra smooth shave so I'm also using some AoS Ocean Kelp preshave gel. I've decided to finish off the Gillette Super Thin blade that's in my Gillette Old Type, I thought about using one of my super speeds, but honestly the blade only works well in the OT.

After one wtg pass I had a DFS, after a second pass (atg) I was BBS. I finished up with a cold water rinse and some AoS Ocean Kelp after shave lotion. An excellent shave with very little time or effort necessary. It's always nice to find a speedy set up that performs well.

Pre: Hot shower, warm water splash, and AoS Ocean Kelp preshave gel
Razor: Gillette Old Type on ball end Tech handle
    Blade: Gillette Super Thin
    Soap: EMJ Sensitive
Post: Cold water rinse and AoS Ocean Kelp aftershave lotion

This Shark continues to amaze me. Seventeen shaves and still going. Another smooth comfortable shave means that it will be used another day. I have not kept track of the number of shaves before this because I usually changed blades weekly no matter what. This experiment may change everything.

Another fine shave with the Shark blade. This was the nineteenth save with this one blade. The Williams lather was very nice contributing to a smooth close shave.
