Christmas Shaves are one of the most special, high prestige shaves of the year. The choice of razor definitely requires some thought and deliberation...This year in my Shave-Cave the Ever Ready 'Little Lather Catcher' won the position of being my 2013 Christmas shave razor...lol

This razor is approaching her 100th birthday and she consistently gives '2 pass +', BBS's...Today was no exception. Today she delivered an effortless irritation free, dare I say, "Perfect" shave and made it all look so simple. I just kind of watched... Christmas 2013 might be a contender for my best holiday shave....lol

    Merry Christmas Everybody!!!

    Razor: Milord
    Blade: Personna Lab
    Lather: Arko Extra Sensitive Cream
    Brush: HIS Synthethic

First shave with the Milord. DFS achieved with two days growth- WTG, ATG, XTG. However under the chin while going XTG I experienced horrible tug. Im hoping this was just a fluke since this has never happened with the Flare Tip under the same conditions.

PS I was hoping to use the Ever-ready Shovelhead again but I've been neglecting the Milord for too long...

    Wednesday

Hot shower, face washed with Matas face wash.
    Mühle R89 coupled with Viking's Sword (2).
Arko grated soap whipped with Vie-Long Butterscotch Edition horse brush in Steve Woodhead shallow mug.
3 passes, angle adjusted, followed by luke rinse, Ajanta alum applied for 1 minute, then rinsed off with cold water.
Finished off with Nivea for Men Sensitive balm.

Here on 1st. Christmas day I had to try my new brush. Needless to say, when I opened the present last night on Christmas Eve, it itched in me to start shaving, alas we were not home. It's a much stiffer brush than my boars, but it seems both soft and very pritchy. I've used it twice now (1 cleaning last night and then this shave today) and it really feels like it's softening up, while retaining the great backbone. I have a feeling I'll love this brush in a week or two... Great shave!

I thank you so much for the information my friend. I know Cathy is the owner of Calani and her two soaps which I have, the Cadre Noir and Highland Honey are great. Much better than Olivia's soaps in lathering. (Antje) I guess the Eis Engel's menthol is like Valobra Menthol. It's listed in the ingredients, but it's not noticeable when the lather is on your skin. :)

Brush: FS Faux Horn 24mm Pur-Tech Synthetic
    Bowl: Dirty Bird 1.5 Scuttle
Pre Shave Soap: Nivea Energy Face Scrub
Pre Shave Balm: TSD Iced SubZero
Shave Cream: Strop Shoppe Black Tie
    Post: Monster Alum Block
Aftershave: Floid Special Edition Mentolado Vigoroso
This morning everything but the Dirty Bird Scuttle I received this morning as Christmas presents. In fact, I made out like a bandit with all the shave related gear I received this Christmas from family, friends and secret Santa's. The Ikon Slant just sang through the Black Tie Tallow and only required a two passes to receive a BBS shave. The Frank Shaving Pur-tech is my 3rd V2 synthetic; other two are 25mm HIS and 21mm Muhle and though the synthetic tips are very similar , would have to give the edge in backbone to the two larger synthetics. Could be just my preference to larger brushes as the 21mm Muhle synthetic is the only brush I own under 24mm. Excellent shave on an excellent day and wish everyone a wonderful Christmas Holiday.

Hot shower, forgot to wash face :ashamed001:

D.R. Harris Arlington soap whipped with Vie-Long Butterscotch Edition horse brush in Steve Woodhead shallow mug.

Finished off with Nivea for Men Sensitive balm.

Nice shave actually. Brush isn't broken in yet, still a bit too prickly. I suspect (and hope) in a few weeks in rotation it'll break in nice and easy. Love the soap, nice scent. Can't say it's better than the other soaps I have, but it is sure more expensive so it has to be better :D I like it nevertheless. It's been seated in my Old Spice mug. Finally I found use for it, besides being a shelf-item.

Off to lunch at parents house. Annual Christmas lunch as tradition dictates. Have a nice day, fellow shavers! :)

    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip

I was back with my Slim today. 3rd shave with the BDP blade this morning. The BDP and Slim did a good job. Very nice shave today. I finished with V.I. Bay Rum. I like it! This was the first time I have used the Pinaud VI Bay Rum. It won’t replace Krampert’s, but it will have a place in the Den. I lived on St. Croix, USVI for five years. Good memories…up until Hurricane Hugo.

(Translation) Thorsten, my dear friend - I really like this soap sample that you sent me. The lather is so rich and easy to whip up and the skincare is so gentle and soothing. Perhaps the scent is a little strong, but it's still very pleasant - even my wife likes it. Again I must say that I'm so grateful! :) :) :happy005:

We went out of town for Christmas and Christmas Eve but I was able to hit one antique store before they closed Christmas Eve day and picked this little gem. I think it's french but honestly don't know for sure. At any rate it's an excellent shaver. It reminds me of my vintage Grelot. Nice shave this morning. Have a good one.

    Razor: WW2 Gillette Khaki
    Blade: Astra SP (day 4)
    Brush: Wilkinson Sword
    Soap: Col Conk lime
    Passes: 3 (WTG x2, XTG)
Post: cold water, alum, Proraso blue

Found a few bumps on my neck today. I'm starting to think I need to re-evaluate the Astra blade with this razor, it might need to stay in the Weishi.

My lathering of Col. Conk still seems to be hit or miss, so that might have contributed to the nicks as well.

Today was not my worst shave though, and I hopefully keep learning and getting better as I go. Lets just hope it all comes together by the time my straight gets here!
